From Bat Anti-Shark Repellent Batman to Needing a Halls Mentho-Lyptus Batman, all iterations of Bruce Wayne’s psychosis….err….alter ego have displayed a certain degree of angst. Even Adam West’s Batman, which was essentially a children’s comedy show, was SUPER-Serious. So are we ready for a funny Batman (continuing the character introduced in the Lego Movie last year)? Rising star directors Miller and Lord think so!
Lord and Miller, who are set to produce, and Will Arnett (Arrested Development) who voices the Caped Crusader, recently gave some hints:
“Rest assured that every era of Batman filmmaking will be acknowledged,” Miller told Empire back in November. “There have been so many interpretations of Batman and there is so much to play with there.”
This comment piqued our curiosity regarding whether or not famous Batmen of years past — like Adam West, Michael Keaton, Christian Bale, and heck, even Ben Affleck — would be making vocal cameos in the film… so we asked Lord, Miller, and Arnett when we caught up with them at the National Board of Review Awards red carpet.
We’ve certainly never seen a particularly happy Batman on the big or small screen before, which is something that Lord made sure to heavily put in perspective.
I want to see this FAR MORE than a true Lego Movie sequel. I think this is a prime medium to spoof Batman, superheroes, superhero movies, or just about anything else they want to take a shot at. And maybe, just maybe, THIS Batman movie will feature a REAL Robin!
Excited?
