Fox is expanding its reach into comics beyond just Gotham. The network is set to film a pilot based on Dc/Vertigo’s Lucifer and they’ve found their prince of darkness.
Tom Ellis, an actor who has worked regularly but never popped to fame, will take the titular (Giggity) role.
“Lucifer,” based on characters by Neil Gaiman, Sam Kieth and Mike Dringenberg for DC Comics’ Vertigo imprint, follows the bored and unhappy titular Lord of Hell.
On the show, Lucifer Morningstar resigns his throne and abandons his kingdom for the gorgeous, shimmering insanity of Los Angeles, where he gets his kicks helping the LAPD punish criminals.
The comic series was a spinoff of Sandman so it has a pedigree. Interesting to see how a network portrays Satan as the protagonist. Will Fox News protest the Fox Network? These are the questions!
