Please oh Please Go Back to Five Best Picture Noms

Ryan ranted before the Oscars how the extra spots never went to hits. I ranted that the “give everyone a nomination” made nomination less prestigious. Much like the inclusion of Clue in the monologue, when Gabbing Geek speaks, the Academy listens!

The Hollywood Reporter is citing sources indicating that the Best Picture Oscar may return to only five Best Picture Noms next year.

A large quotient of the board has been pushing for the change behind the scenes, arguing that having too many best picture nominees has watered down the prestige of a nomination — without boosting the TV audience for the annual Oscarcast.

If you aren’t going to nominate some fun, wild card movies in the 6-10 spots, go back to the old formula. The current compromise doesn’t make anyone happy.
