The Hollywood Reporter is citing sources indicating that the Best Picture Oscar may return to only five Best Picture Noms next year.
A large quotient of the board has been pushing for the change behind the scenes, arguing that having too many best picture nominees has watered down the prestige of a nomination — without boosting the TV audience for the annual Oscarcast.
If you aren’t going to nominate some fun, wild card movies in the 6-10 spots, go back to the old formula. The current compromise doesn’t make anyone happy.
