Yesterday I posted a positive review for a low budget sci-fi movie called The Machine. I was then informed that both Ryan and Watson put the movie in question on their worst flicks of 2014.
That really doesn’t change my view of the movie. I recognized it as a low budget movie and judged it as I felt accordingly. I thought it was smartly made. The other, more senior geeks clearly disagreed. To each their own. This is America!
Unless you’re Jimmy. In which case, it’s Canada.
I am sure this will not be the last time I disagree with some of the fine folks here. And who doesn’t love a good geek argument? Well, people who shouldn’t be reading stuff here. We have minutiae of Star Wars rumors to parse. Our editorial meetings take place in a shady back alley somewhere in Arkansas by the light of the full moon on months with an “R” in their name. Its not like we’re planning stuff with any sort of professional oversight. I let a rabid mongoose write up my thoughts on “Civil War”. Jimmy sends his stuff in by carrier pigeon. Ryan posts in his underwear and his outerwear at the same time. Watson is secretly Scarlet Johansson. Jenny is three ducks in a woman costume. One of these is a true statement.
If there’s one thing to learn here, its like what you want and don’t apologize. Why should we call anything a “guilty pleasure” if it brings us pleasure? OK, if the pleasure is something that a judge and jury would declare you guilty over, that’s one thing, but rock on, fellow geeks! Enjoy what others call crap! It’s what made us all geeks to begin with.
Besides, my wife loves reality TV competitions involving fashion and is currently working her way through Gossip Girl on Netflix. If I didn’t believe that, I would have gone insane a long time ago. I mean, seriously, how seriously am I supposed to take Gossip Girl? One of the villains of the show is named Chuck Bass. How am I supposed to take a name like that seriously? He actually used, “You just hooked a Bass,” as a pick-up line. You’re a bad, bad man, Chuck Bass.
I think I should stop now. Enjoy your stuff, geeks.
