Rumors of a Batman appearance in Suicide Squad have been around for a few months. Latino Review (via Instagram) believe they have additional information on how Batman will be used…potential (minor) spoilers…
According to sources, in the film Batman is some sort of big boogeyman that the government REALLY hates. Get this, prior to the events in #BatmanvSuperman, THE JOKER is the only one to really ever meet him or know him and that’s why he’s so important to Amanda Waller. They have footage of Batman in action which they watch. There is a bit of dialogue where they say Batman is the key to tracking down all “the supers.” Very cool stuff.
Still sounds like a very minor role, and seems to play more as a plot point than anything that gets Batfleck overly involved in the film. Other rumors have Jared Leto’s Joker being a more buff, inspired by The Dark Knight Returns version of the Clown Prince of Crime. Which makes sense given that Batsup Batman is also modeled after The Dark Knight Returns. Potentially Joker spends the movie in prison in a consultant/Hannibal Lector role, but manages an escape near the end to either be tracked down by Batman or to set up the first, yet to be announced Batfleck solo film.
This all seems to be DC’s answer to Marvel having all their characters crossing over into other movies (Captain America: Civil War anyone?), which works for me at this point until one of these universes crashes and burns. The more movie Batman and Joker at this point, the better.
