J.J. Abrams Teases Death Of Jar Jar Binks In June Issue Of Vanity Fair

Remember in that Star Wars movie (that nobody likes) when they had the opportunity to kill off Jar Jar Binks but didn’t and then later Qui Gon Jin was killed instead? As it turns out, in a preview for the June issue of Vanity Fair, it was revealed by J.J. Abrams that he is toying with the idea of killing Jar Jar. In an interview with Vanity Fair’s Bruce Handy, Abrams pointed to a frame from the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens and said  “I have thought about putting Jar Jar Binks’s bones in the desert there. I’m serious! Only three people will notice, but they’ll love it.”

The subtle approach wouldn’t be as satisfying as actually witnessing the death of Jar Jar, but at least we can finally confirm that Jar Jar won’t be around for Episode 7. The June issue, whose cover can be seen below, hits newsstands May 12 and offers additional behind-the-scenes coverage.

  1. Daisy Ridley is my new supercrush. Look for me to cast her in everything when we doing casting choices on the Gabbing Geek podcast. Know who would be good for playing Black Bolt in Inhumans? Daisy Ridley!
