TV: Cancelled, Renewed, Or On The Fence?

tvcancelThe end of one TV season means the fate of dozens of network shows are being determined right now.  What fate has befallen your favorite TV show?  Vox has the full list on their site but check after the break for some of our own thoughts on current geek shows.

Renewed shows: The Big Bang Theory has been renewed for two more seasons, which will make my wife happy and Jenny sad.  Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, iZombie, Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD were all picked up as well.  Proving it’s a great time to be an entertainment series based on anything Marvel or a comic book.  Unless, of course, your name is…

Cancelled shows: Constantine.  NBC never really gave this show a shot with a Friday night time slot.  People inclined to watch Constantine weren’t home on Friday nights.  They weren’t out partying, but they weren’t home.  NBC was hoping to cash in on Grimm’s success, but the protagonist in Grimm is very, very different from Constantine.  Rumors are swirling that the show may find another home, whether network or streaming, so we’ll see if Constantine lives again.

On the Fence: A bunch of reality shows.  Which aren’t very geeky but it’s interesting to see the needle start to swing back towards scripted shows.  Perhaps the high quality superhero/comic-based movies and TV shows are showing crappy shows like American Idol (seriously, that was still on?) how to make good television?
