Ant-Man Spoiler-Free Review!

Did Ant-Man earn the elusive thumbs up from Ryan?
Did Ant-Man earn the elusive thumbs up from Ryan?

Ant-Man is out!  Do good things come in small packages or does this movie fail to live up to our large expectations?  Find out after the break in our spoiler-free review!

I had low expectations coming into this movie, both because it’s Ant-Man and because Ultron was disappointing.  But this movie was a blast.  I do enjoy heist films and Marvel’s take on it was a lot of fun.  Yes, it has plot holes that you could drive a miniaturized 18-wheeler through, but that’s every heist film.  What it got right, it got very right.  And I managed to avoid any spoilers so the moments that didn’t make it into the trailer were a lot of fun to watch.  Even moments from the trailer aren’t as they appear in the movie itself–so even if you’ve seen every commercial and preview out there, you’ll still be surprised.

This was a blast to watch and I loved the connections to the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe.  I don’t know if it made up for the Ultron disappointment, but this was a nice way to end the summer for Marvel.

Score: 8 out of 10 Pym particles.

  1. I want to, I want to believe my favorite Geekerella and my Fallen hero Garcia…..but, honestly, in the top 10’s of many rankings you have done – I find my self hanging out with W’s. From the big directors all the way down to obscure movies, my likes are closer to W’s. Who else beside He and a few friends of mine from HS can quote “back to school” lines. That fact scares me.

That said…. I’ll reserve judgement until I see it.
