The Other Marvel Villain On Jessica Jones

If you are like me, and I know I am, you’ve been enjoying the Netflix series Jessica Jones. Using subject matter that makes Daredevil look like a Care Bear Holiday Special, the series has done its own take on the story between former third rate superhero turned first rate private investigator Jessica Jones and all-around sociopath Killgrave.

In the comics, of course, Killgrave goes by the name the Purple Man because he is, well, purple.  But there’s another Marvel villain lurking on the show.  I haven’t finished the series yet, so I don’t know how bad the guy will get but…see who it is with some SPOILERS after the cut.

Officer Will Simpson is the other one.  Not much of a surprise as you watch the series, all told.

This guy.
This guy.

Yes, the one who’s been fooling around with Jessica’s best pal Trish, who herself in the comics is Patsy Walker, onetime Marvel female version of Archie turned superhero Hellcat.

So, which bad guy is he?

Nuke.

This one is Ultimate Nuke...looks about the same, actually.
This one is Ultimate Nuke…looks about the same, actually.

Nuke was Frank Simpson, a Vietnam vet taken into what was actually the Weapon Plus program (the shadowy government thing that produced Captain America and Wolverine among others).  He was given some cybernetic parts, a second heart, and a mess of pills to do jobs.  Red pills give him adrenaline, blue calm him down, and white keep him normal between missions.

He’s also kinda nuts and really hard to hurt.

Some of that has come into play in the series.

Pill-poppin' bad guys are the worst.

Nuke bounces around in the comics, and has frequently fought against guys like Daredevil, Wolverine, and Captain America.

So, there, you learned something.
