Last week, we here at Gabbing Geek ran a “Year of Anticipation” column discussing all the stuff we were looking forward to this year.
Well, one of those things probably isn’t showing up this year.
Coming as a surprise to, I am sure, absolutely no one–including me, and I wrote the original anticipation post–George R. R. Martin has said that The Winds of Winter isn’t finished yet, in what was probably the biggest news to spread via LiveJournal in years.
So, the book will not be ready before the next season of Game of Thrones begins.
Big shock.
Look, we here at Gabbing Geek pride ourselves on our journalistic integrity…or we would if any of us were actual journalists. Instead, we’re a pair of lawyers, a teacher, a feminist cosplay enthusiast (I don’t know what exactly Jenny does), a Canadian, and Greg. But I will note that despite putting The Winds of Winter down as something to look forward to, I did note it was only a rumor and I wouldn’t believe it until I had a bone fide copy of the actual book.
So, yeah, rumor clarified, and no Winds of Winter anytime soon.
