Oustide of The Last Stand , I’ve been a big fan of the X-Men movies. Old and new…though the new ones are techinically older than the old ones in terms of timeline. *Scratches head*
Anywho, this new film is really not grabbing me. From the horrible look of Apocalypse himself to the so-so trailers, I haven’t seen much yet that has piqued my interest. After the phenomenal Days of Future Past, I fear this one is primed to disappoint. I hope I’m wrong.

I think Apocalypse has always been a rather dull villain. He comes from a time when most X-Men foes were these indestructible immortals who could knock out whole teams of mutants and Magneto, unless Magneto also realized he was immortal and I missed it.

For me, this has been a series of movies that almost work. Good cast, good underlying concepts, but ultimately disappointing plot resolutions. I feel like the stories (in the movies) pull me in and then drop me. I find the imagery a bit too much on the grotesque side for my personal tastes, and the angst without humor can be wearing. Where’s the flip side of the coin?
