New For Netflix In April

It’s been quite a while since I have written.. I was MIA along with Watson.  I’m not the reason for no podcast though.  You will have to find Watson and ask him about that.

Wow, April is going to be a great Geek month on Netflix. I KNOW  you already watched all of season 2 of Daredevil!    How did you like it?  Did you catch the new Pee-Wee Herman movie?  I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t as good as the original movie.

April bring us the Stanley Kubric classic 2001: A space Odyssey.  We also get Star Trek: Insurrection and the cult hit,  Starship Troopers. We also have the epic movie, The Right Stuff.   April also brings a ton of non Geek hits such as Erin Brockovich, A Clockwork Orange, and the always on tv, The Shawshank Redemption as well as the all time classic, always quoted: A Princess Bride.

If your into cooking shows, Netflix has you covered with like 15 different shows covering all the big name celebrity chefs for your enjoyment.

You can see the complete list of what’s new, and their release dates here.

As soon as I catch up on my Netflix watching, I’ll try to be better about keeping you folks in the loop.  Sorry!

New Year, New Titles for Netflix

netflix-logo

Netflix is cleaning house the end of December.  We may not be losing a lot of Geek titles, but in my opinion we are losing a lot of classics. For starters, we are losing the whole Rocky franchise!  Creed posted good reviews, so I was hoping Netflix would leave these classics around a little longer.  We are losing a couple Mission Impossible movies, the Bourne Identity films, and the Rambo movies.  2016 isn’t the year for Stalone on Netflix.  Zoolander is also leaving us as well as both Tomb Raider movies and Jerry Maguire.  I guess it just wasn’t showing the money anymore.

The kids are losing all sorts of classic cartoons, from The Rescuers, to Dumbo, to the Tigger Movie.  Its a fairly large dump of classic Disney movies as well as some Sesame Street for the even younger set.

What does 2016 bring us?  For starters the only Geek title is Catwoman, and I’m not sure that is worth watching.  We also get 2 Fast 2 Furious and the 2nd Ice Age movie.  Nothing on the list really excites me.  Take a look at this pretty complete list of what is coming and going and let me know what I really need to watch next month.  If not, I will just rewatch Jessica Jones, because that series ROCKED.

New in Netflix for December

Now that your belly is full and you have your Cyber Monday shopping done, it’s time to binge watch a little TV.  We are losing a couple big geek titles this upcoming month.  The big one is the 2005 classic, Batman Begins.  This is the Christopher Nolan reboot of the franchise and I can’t help but watch whenever these are on.

We will also be losing two cartoon super hero series, The Avengers: 2010-2012 and Thor & Loki also from 2010-12.  I haven’t seen either of these, but I am going to check out The Avengers before it leaves as it has The Wasp, Black Panther and Ms. Marvel in it.  This will have to tide me over until all three of these make it onto the Big Screen in the upcoming  year or so.

We don’t have any new big geek titles arriving this month.  The highlight for me is going to be Phineas & Ferb season 4.  These two boys have serious street cred with me and my family.  Catch the whole list of coming and goings on Netflix here and let me know what your going to miss most.  And let me know your thoughts on Jessica Jones!  I’m loving it, but it’s definitely not a Super Hero show in my opinion.  More like a psycho thriller!

New On Netflix For November

netflix-logo

It’s almost November and that means I need to let you know what new on your favorite streaming service!  First and most important is the new Marvel series Jessica Jones which starts November 20th!  If this is as good as Daredevil is, we are set for a happy Thanksgiving.  We are also  getting a couple of classic Geek titles.  First off is the original Total Recall featuring our favorite Ca. Governor, Arnold himself.  Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country is also coming back to Netflix.  Add in some classics like Bravehart, Good Will Hunting, and a Jay and Silent Bob movie by Kevin Smith, and I know I will always have something to watch this month.

The only “loss” in November in Batman and Robin.  Hard to really call this one a loss in my opinion.  Take a look here and here to see all of the November comings and goings.  Did I miss something?  What are you going to miss or looking forward to seeing again?  Let me know.

New On Netflix In October

It’s October, the leaves are falling and some of our favorite movies and shows are “falling” off of Netflix.  On the Comics side of things we will be losing some Wolverine Cartoon episodes, but that is about it from the Geek perspective.  I am personally sad about Losing some Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, The Hunt for Red October, and Saturday Night Live. My son is missing Sid The Science Kid-Season 1 from PBS but is hoping Season 2 appears soon.

You can catch the full list of additions and disappearances here. What are you going to miss or checkout for the first time?

Back In May I did an article about how Fox is bringing back the X-Files for 6 episodes starting January 24th.  After the break, check out the 45 second trailer that just got released.  Continue reading The X-Files Are Still Out There

Stephen Colbert Will Tell You How To Drive

I’ve discussed in the past about how much I like the App Waze.  I think it’s one of the best GPS apps out there because of the social media aspect of other drivers giving you heads up to potential slowdowns for whatever the reason.

Waze did a promo a while back with the new Terminator movie, Genysis.  It must have been a hit with Waze users, as they are back at it again.  This time they are teaming up with mega talent from Comedy Central and star of his own late show premiering soon on CBS, the one and only Stephen Colbert!

Stephen is lending his voice and comedy to help you get from point A and point B and keep you entertained along the way.  I hope it keeps the kids entertained as well, I’m tired of them asking “Are we there yet?”    Read the whole article and watch a great video of Stephen introducing himself and Waze over at CNET.

New On Netflix In September

September is a big month over on Netflix.  We have some great additions, but are losing a lot of “Geek” favorites.  First, the bad news–depending on how you look at it–is that we are losing “Transformers: Age of Extinction.”  We are also losing the original Star Trek movie from 1979 and the newest one “Into Darkness” this month.

On the bright side, we are gaining the first season of “Gotham,”  the highly rated series on Fox about Bruce Wayne’s home town.

For the complete list of whats coming and going when, check it out after the break and let me know what you’re going to miss most.  Our thanks to CNET for compiling all the Netflix comings and goings. Continue reading New On Netflix In September

New On Netflix In July

Summer is here!  That means no school and a lot more time to binge watch all the shows you missed during the regular season.  Unfortunately Netflix added very few movies and shows for us Geeks, such as  Marvel’s Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.: Season 2,  but we are also  losing a couple of classics as well, including Terminator 2: Judgment Day, and X-Men: Evolution: Season 2 .   You can catch the full list of additions and disappearances here.  What are you going to miss or checkout for the first time?
