Spider-Man vs Darth Maul: The Alternate Ending

Uh, uh, uh, uh, Staying Alive! Staying Alive!

Back in December I posted an episode of Super Power Beat Down which featured everyone’s favorite Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man versus that dastardly Dark Lord of the Sith: Darth Maul.  I know you all watched it.

Creators batinthesun have released an alternate ending to that battle, as they often do.  You can watch it after the cut.  And keep an eye out for a very cool cameo.

Grindhouse Films Presents: Star Wars!

Outside of one 8 year old kid, the interwebs are pretty happy about the fact that Deadpool is rated R.  Because we’re a bunch of bloodthirsty, sex-craved heathens.  Yes, surprisingly, that doesn’t just apply to Watson.  So of course we wish that we could go back in time and re-imagine Star Wars as a Grindhouse film.  While we can’t do that (Ryan keeps hogging the time machine to go back and watch Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark on Broadway), we can watch the trailer for that R-Rated Grindhouse version of Star Wars after the cut.

33 Star Wars Characters Who Are Definitely Not Rey’s Parents

Everyone who has seen Episode VII has a theory on who are Rey’s parents.  These theories range from the intriguing to the totally insane.  Rather than try to contribute to the growing collection of suspects, I thought it would be better to take the opposite approach.  Rather then take wild guesses as to who her parents might be, let’s try and eliminate some potential suspects from the list.  And so now I present to you the 33 Star Wars characters that are definitely not Rey’s parents.  Jump after the break to know who we can finally let off the hook.

Honest Trailer For Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D

I haven’t given up on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D yet like many have.  I know the first half of season one was a bit weak, but they really hit it out of the ballpark post Captain America: Winter Soldier.  As for the current Inhumans storyline…well…like I said, I haven’t given up on it, but I do have a backlog of episodes on my DVR that I never seem in any rush to watch.  I’m sure I will…eventually.

In the meantime, get a taste for what you’ve been missing when Honest Trailers turns their sights from the usual blockbusters to the small screen and cover this black sheep of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A Long Time Ago In A Galaxy Far, Far Away…On Hoth

I find the quality of some fan films, particularly the visual effects very surprising.  I have no idea what budget these things have, but their ability to often pull off starships and super powers is amazing.

After the break, a recent impressive Star Wars fan film.  It’s a bit light on effects, but it looks great and continues the story on Hoth following the attack in Empire Strikes Back.

A Musical Interlude

"I can sing!"
“I can sing!”

Proving yet again that some people either have a lot of talent, too much time on their hands, or both, someone put together a video in which characters from 183 different movies sing Linkin Park’s “In the End”.

Enjoy it if you dare after the cut.

RIP David Bowie

David Bowie passed away yesterday.  Now, Bowie was one of those guys who got around, did a lot of cool stuff, and even with acting roles in Geek Favorites like LabyrinthThe Prestige, and The Man Who Fell To Earth, he also had another influence without his direct involvement.

Yes, for the first few seasons (before the whole thing was retconned out), David Bowie was supposedly the Sovereign of the supervillain labor union The League of Calamitous Intent on the Adult Swim series The Venture Brothers.

Anyway, after the cut there’s a fan video of the show set to Bowie’s “Heroes”.  The video seems to mostly feature the Venture’s bodyguard, Swedish Murder Machine Brock Samson, but the Bowie character can be spotted a couple times, once shapeshifting into a bald eagle at the end of the song.  Enjoy.

Cosplay Attempt, Take Three

For what is acting is not professional cosplay?
For what is acting if not professional cosplay?

You know something?  I’ve been trying to bring back the daily cosplay feature, and I am just not good at this.  I don’t know how Jenny does it.  I know exactly how Watson does it, because he probably just types “stuff I would wear” into Google and the results just come up.

Well, this is the last time I am trying this.  So, one last shot at a good cosplay…

Not a cosplay...an actual George!
Not a cosplay…an actual George!

OK, so, yesterday’s cosplay didn’t go so well.  Let’s try again.
