On Star Wars, Sentience, And Slavery

I rewatched Star Wars:  The Force Awakens over the weekend, and as these things tend to do with me, I had some thoughts.

I was watching as Rey saved BB-8 from the scavenger, and something struck me:  why does Rey do that?

I don’t usually come into the office on Saturday’s (and after seeing Watson sleeping in the cafeteria in his underwear with tear stained cheeks surrounded by empty tubs of rum and butter ice cream I wish I hadn’t) but wanted to share some videos coming out of Comic-Con.  A lot of exciting stuff coming up.

May 4th is one of the best days to dress up as your favorite Star Wars character – and thanks to the Star Wars celebration that happened last month, we have a lot of Star Wars cosplay to cover. Short Documentary Of Why Star Wars Cosplay Is Timeless

Hopefully you were able to see all the amazing cosplay that came out of the Star Wars Celebration this past month. But if you missed it, never fear, Cosplay Boom captured it, along with the touching stories of the people who spend numerous amounts of hours to recreate the characters from a galaxy far far away. Many of the costumes look like they were plucked straight out of the film, but some of the most creative examples are those that blend a cosplayer’s varied passions into one outfit – like the famous Hip-Hop Stormtrooper pictured above.

You’ll want to grab a tissue or at least have your handy “IT WAS ALLERGIES” excuse ready to go, because this video is amazing:

What Star Wars Sequel? I Don’t Know What You’re Talking About!

Back when George Lucas was making the sequels to Star Wars (the original one), he was able to keep a lot of things secret simply by filming under an alternate title like Blue Harvest (which sounds like the title of  a 90’s era softcore porn thriller starring Shannon Tweed).  Today, with the interwebs, camera phones, and the hula hoop all the rage, it has gotten a lot harder!  Time to bring in the lawyers!!!!
