According to Box Office Mojo Dreamworks just moved the Jack Black cartoon from March 18, 2016 to the dreads of January. It’s now on 1/29/16. I don’t think anyone is saying “well American Sniper did well, and Kung Fu Panda 3 is similar…”

Dear Oscars,

You suck for so many reasons it’s hard to pick just one. You are a self-congratulatory, over-hyped, out-of-touch celebration of how you don’t understand your audience. You pile heaps of affection onto movies that most of your audience didn’t see and couldn’t care about. You are bland, boring, predictable, boring, elitist, and boring. The Entertainment Industry To Nitpickers: Historical Accuracy Is For Chumps!

Awards season.  A prominent director releases a movie that garners some Oscar nominations.  Controversy arises among some, though.  The movie is based on the life of a man many Americans think of as a hero, but who in his own time has proven to be somewhat controversial.  It seems some have found the movie has taken a few liberties with past events, and since said past events are based on real, living people, this is a cause for concern among some people.

I am speaking, of course, of Steven Spielberg’s 2012 movie Lincoln.

After such big hit opening weekends with Taken and American Sniper, we finally get a reminder of what January box office reports are SUPPOSED to look like.  American Sniper continued to dominate the box office; pairing Oscar buzz and a weird Chik Fil A effect to stay at the top spot.  Most of the new releases that it faced off with were not as well-received.
