Ares 3: The Crew Prepares For Their Mission To Mars

If you haven’t read The Martian yet, what are you waiting for?  Go do it right now.  We’ll wait.

You’re back!  Great.  After the break, check out two viral videos that have begun to make the rounds in promotion of the movie.  Both are from the perspective of the Ares crew as they prepare for their journey to Mars.

No real spoilers for those that still haven’t read the book (tsk tsk) but the clips are sure to elicit a few smiles from those that have.  They give me renewed faith that Ridley Scott is going to pull this off successfully.

The Martian is due in theaters in 56 sols.  (Or October 2nd for those still on Earth.)

The Martian – Official Trailer

The first full-length trailer has arrived for “The Martian,” the sci-fi drama directed by Ridley Scott, which opens November 25th and stars Matt Damon, Jessica Chastain, Kristen Wiig, Kate Mara, Michael Pena, Jeff Daniels, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Donald Glover.

Based on the 2011 novel by Andy Weir, astronaut Mark Watney (Damon), who during a manned mission to Mars is presumed dead and left behind by his crew. Struggling to survive with only meager supplies, Watney manages to get a signal to Earth, leading NASA to search for a way to bring “the Martian” home, even as his own crew hatches a daring — and seemingly impossible — rescue plan.
