On Star Wars, Sentience, And Slavery

I rewatched Star Wars:  The Force Awakens over the weekend, and as these things tend to do with me, I had some thoughts.

I was watching as Rey saved BB-8 from the scavenger, and something struck me:  why does Rey do that?

The consensus seems to be that Revenge of the Sith is, in fact, the best of the prequels.  True, that can be damning with faint praise, but…well, let’s see what the Geeks have to say about this one.

In Honor Of Our Rewatch, An Honest Trailer For Attack Of The Clones

With the Slave Leia bikini banned, I guess this is next.

I haven’t re-watched Attack of the Clones yet, so…there’s no comments from me in the post that precedes this one.  But to at least contribute today I searched out this Honest Trailer.  Some funny stuff, and no love is given to most anything, especially Hayden Christensen…but that is no surprise.  See for yourself after the break.

Star Wars Rewatch: Attack Of The Clones

OK, Star Wars fans. quick question:  which movie was worse, Phantom Menace or Attack of the Clones?

See, Menace has the comedic stylings of Jar Jar Binks and obnoxious pre-teen Anakin Skywalker.  Attack has a lot of half-assed romance and obnoxious post-teen Anakin Skywalker.  I’d actually rather see Phantom Menace given the choice.  At least that one had some pod racing.

But hey, we’re not skipping Attack of the Clones.

Announcing A Star Wars Rewatch!

Unless you’ve been living in a hole for the past year or so, you know there’s a new Star Wars coming out next week.

To do something with that, I’m doing a rewatch and have invited the other Geeks to share their two cents on the previous six movies.  We’ll have one a day starting tomorrow with The Phantom Menace (skipping the weekend) and end with Return of the Jedi next Thursday.

So, hey, see what we have to say about the most important movie series in the universe.  That statement may be a bit of a hyperbole.  Schedule after the cut.

Yes that’s right people – all 2+ hours of the film were captured and merged together in this larger than life, out of this galaxy experience that you don’t want to miss. Epic doesn’t even come close to describing this – but don’t take my word for it, see for yourself:

Podcast Reaction: Fixing Prequels Edition

Not shown above: a passionate love story for the ages.

This week on the podcast, those darn Gabbing Geeks discussed how to fix disappointing stories.  They also discussed pop culture mothers after Mother’s Day, but I don’t have anything to add there.  They also discussed feminist action heroes, but that might be the work of a future column.
