Marvel confirmed a few more zones on Battleworld this week. Some have been rumored for a while and already have tie-in books announced (like Planet Hulk above), while there were also a few surprises. What any of this all really means, we’re not really sure yet. Let’s have a look at the updates…
Greenland – PLANET HULK
Savage alien planet. Oppressed barbarian tribes. Corrupt emperor. Deadly woman warrior. Gladiators and slaves. Battle axes and hand blasters. Monsters and heroes… and the Incredible Hulk!
Sure, we explained what was happening over three weeks ago but now the news is official from Marvel. Because Marvel doesn’t want you to sleep they just put out two very interesting press releases that has some huge implications for the MCU and geeks everywhere.
Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe were fairly excited to learn the third Captain America movie would be an adaptation of Civil War, a mini-series where the various Marvel heroes lined up on two sides over a law that required superheroes to register with the American government or go to prison. The series dealt with issues regarding national security and the American reaction to terrorist attacks on our soil.
It also had some huge problems that almost guarantee the movie version will be better, if only by default.
Way back in the year 2000, I was snooping around the DC Comics message boards and came across a debate over who the various members of the Justice League at the time would vote for in the 2000 Presidential election One particularly memorable individual insisted that all the various Leaguers would have obviously voted for George W. Bush except for that “treehugger” Aquaman.
There is one problem with this assumption: Aquaman at the time couldn’t really vote in an American election. He was the king of Atlantis. You know, foreign citizen. And given the way he was being written in his solo title at the time, it probably didn’t matter much to him who the president was. Plus, there aren’t many trees to hug on the bottom of the sea. Oh, and he’s a fictional character.
If you’re anything like me – pictures say a thousand words. Well….words also say a thousand words, but pictures are better because: PRETTY! And again, if you’re anything like me (which let’s face it, everyone is totally like me) then keeping up with all the Marvel movie rights will make your head explode. But never fear! HULK SMASH TIME LOOP. Hulk smash Marvel Universe. Actually, Hulk smash nothing, since we’re about to reboot the entire Marvel Universe. Yep, you read that correctly… the whole Marvel Universe is about to be rebooted. System failure? Nope, this is not your standard reboot.
Excited about Ant-Man? Lot of news about that lately. Avengers 2 coming out. We should discuss the relationship between Vision and Jarvis. Yeah, screw that, let’s talk about Civil War! Anthony Mackie (aka the Falcon) teased some filming locations of the much anticipated Iron Man 4 err….we mean Captain America 3. (RDJ is a supporting actor).
