The One Flaw In Morning Star And How I Would Have Fixed It

rrseriesMorning Star was an amazing conclusion to the epic Red Rising series.  And while there are parts I liked more and didn’t like as much as previous books, I still gave it a perfect score in the end.  Because books can have flaws and still deliver an amazing story.  But there is one part of Morning Star that really stuck with me as being a mistake and I can only discuss it while spoiling some things.  So this is your warning.  [WARNING: AFTER THE BREAK WE’VE GOT SOME MAJOR MORNING STAR SPOILERS SO GO READ THE BOOK ALREADY AND THEN COME BACK.] Continue reading The One Flaw In Morning Star And How I Would Have Fixed It

Remember way way back when you were a child and “little golden books” were a thing. You know – right after snack time, and right before nap time. Well JoeBot has reimagined all of our favorite geek properties into little golden books, and they are priceless. My favorite has to be the Metroid version, but you’ll have to decide for yourself which one you like best after the break:

Gabbing Geek Mystery Box Review: Geek Fuel

photo-original

Hello faithful readers! Remember a while back when I posted about the ever growing popularity of Geek Mystery Subscription Boxes and ranked them in order of value? Well thanks to that post, Gabbing Geek was contacted by Geek Fuel and asked to do another review on just their subscription box service. Who says no to a free geek box!? Not this girl! As a disclaimer, I have to mention that I was NOT paid in any way to promote the box. The only thing they asked was if I would review the box given to me for free, and post the review online after I opened it. And folks – that’s exactly what I plan to do. Not only can you read through my thoughts – but there is a video as well! Thus let the review begin…

Gabbing Geek’s Spoiler Policy

noticeSome weeks ago we started a discussion about how to handle spoilers after a GeekMail was read during our podcast that spoiled something in Avengers Age of Ultron.  The podcast episode dropped 13 days after Age of Ultron came out, but it did spoil for at least one listener and was worth discussing.  Because spoilers are a very real concern in our information age and especially among people who care passionately about the subject potentially being spoiled–which is, of course, you our readers and listeners.  After giving the matter some thought, I believe I have come to a fair way to handle spoilers moving forward and so I am proposing the Gabbing Geek Spoiler Policy after the break.  Please check it out and let us know what you think!

Want this for free? Yes, you do!

If you’ve enjoyed listening to the Gabbing Geek podcast, and judging by the traffic at least dozens of you have, then you might also like listening to an audio book.  If the last time you tried listening to a book was by using a bunch of tapes or CDs, the technology is amazing now.  Audible was purchased many years ago by Amazon but only recently did they finally connect Kindle books with Audible audio books.  The result?  The two formats perfectly sync.  Find out what that means for you and how you can get a free audio book at www.audibletrial.com/gabbinggeek after the break!

Exclusive Interview With Katherine Webb/Kate Griffin/Claire North About The First Fifteen Lives Of Harry August

catherinewebbIt’s not everyday you nab an exclusive interview with an amazing novelist but today we got to interview not one, not two, but three novelists.  The fact that they are all the same person who writes under three names should in no way diminish the epicness of this feat.

I recently had the great fortune to read Ms. Webb/Griffin/North’s book The First Fifteen Lives of Harry August.  Upon completion I realized I did not like this book, I loved this book and I used the social medias to thank the author for giving us such a great work.  After a few exchanges I asked if she’d do an interview for this site and she graciously agreed.  Find out what she had to say about writing, the book itself, and whether she thinks Clue is quotable after the break.
