It’s President’s Day here in the United States, so for today, let’s look at one particularly odd fictional president. He was incorruptible, idealistic, and way too young to be legally elected in the real world. His name was Prez Rickard.
And yes, I am aware my math is wrong on the photo captioned above if Prez is an 18 year old president. But no one would sit for a “three more years” joke anyway.
The Gabbing Geek water cooler is a lot more interesting now that Tom and Jimmy are here. Before they joined, any time Watson, Jenny, and I stood around the cooler talking about an interesting subject Watson would tell us to shut up and “Save it for the podcast!” (It’s true, I do. – Watson) Which is really awkward when we’re just trying to order at a restaurant.
But now that we have more people we can actually have water cooler conversations without Watson shutting it down. And so we thought we’d kick off this first Gabbing Geek Water Cooler chat with the following topic. Superhero movies are all the rage. Seriously. Look it up. And yet there are so many great characters that still don’t have movies announced.
The question is this–in the modern superhero movie age (defined as starting with Iron Man) what iconic comic book character still doesn’t have a movie announced/released that needs one?
This weeks collection of new comics is a little light (on Jimmy interested things anyway) but I managed to pull together some (mostly spoiler free) thoughts on three of them. One that I haven’t read yet but am looking forward to is Superman – Earth One, Vol. 3. The Earth One line from DC are very oversized graphic novels that take a kind of Marvel Ultimate Universe spin on DCs top dogs. I haven’t read the Teen Titans volume (sorry Watson), but I would recommend picking up the first two Superman volumes and Batman Vol. 1.
