Fallen is a comic book coming out in June with amazing art by Jose Holder and a story written by me. I’ve mentioned it a few times on the podcast but never on the site–it’s one of those projects where I forget who I’ve told and how many times. Guiding a comic book from initial idea to script development to hiring a creative team and developing the entire book has been an adventure and a half. But the journey is almost at an end and Comic Book Resources ran an exclusive first look at Fallen: Self-Made Man earier this week. Head on over there to see the first few pages. The comic will be out next month on Comixology, something I’m sure I’ll post about as it approaches.
Do you like comic books? Of course you do! Everyone loves comic books. Some people are just ashamed to admit it. But not us here at Gabbing Geek, or you our readers and listeners. So we want to do you a solid and give you $5 for free to buy your first digital comics. Comixology is one of the coolest sites around and pretty much the entire reason the tablet was invented–to read digital comics. I love walking around with my entire comic collection accessible on my phone or with several graphic novels available to read at a moment’s notice: waiting for appointments, delayed meetings, red lights, whenever there’s a spare moment.
Comixology recently rolled out a promotion to give new comic readers $5 off their first order of $10 or more. Combine that with their awesome sales and special bundles and you’ve got some amazing things to go read. So go follow those $5 off links above to get started and then tell us what awesome titles you picked up with your free money. And if you can’t tell, we highly recommend the new Darth Vader series. Issues 1 and 2 are fun, but starting with issue 3 it gets awesome with some of the best new characters to the Star Wars universe ever created.
I have a reputation on Gabbing Geek as a guy who doesn’t like comic books. This knock is generally well deserved. I don’t like much anymore. But there is a certain kind of comic that even to this day will cause me to
get dressed, get in the car, head to the comic shop, and buy a comic sit in my underwear, fire up the ol’ tablet, click Comixology on my browser, and download a digital file. What are these amazing tales you ask?
The latest episode of Gabbing Geek is so fresh you’ll want to slap it! Check it out now over at iTunes or wherever you get your podcasting goodness, or check out the web version to listen right now! More details after the break.
Damn. Comixology just launched an amazing promotion for the next few days–buy a Marvel book and get another one for free. Use the code “MARVEL” when checking out and try not to overdraw your bank account, mmkay? It expires on Monday so don’t miss it!
Let us know your favorite Marvel books in the comments so people can really take advantage of the sale!
Letter 44 is a fascinating comic book about a President who recently won the office from an unpopular man who started some wars and was generally seen as incompetent. But the moment the new President takes over he discovers why the last President acted the way he did–aliens have been discovered inside the solar system and the old President was preparing for war. Oh, and a space expedition travelling to see what these aliens are up to will reach their destination shortly. And then it gets really interesting.
It’s also on sale until February 16 for less than a dollar an issue (including the first 6 issues collected in a $5 volume). So be sure to head over to the Letter 44 Comixology sale and don’t forget about the awesome Superman sale we told you about earlier and how you can save $46!
You have too much money. You aren’t stimulating the economy and you really need to change that. Don’t worry, Comixology is here to help by finally debuting all the awesome Star Wars comic books from the past 38 years. Update: Check the bottom of the post on how you can buy twice as many comics for the same amount!
