Geek Review: Daredevil Season Two (With SPOILERS)

daredevilseason2teaser-170508

Daredevil returned to Netflix with new episodes last Friday.  I may be the only writer here so far to finish the new episodes.  Color me surprised.  I just must have had a lot of free time this weekend.

Now I feel sad.

Anyway, review and SPOILERS after the cut.

Daredevil Season 2 Continues To Be A Tease

daredevil-season-2-punisher-elektra-costumes

Daredevil season 2 is almost upon us.  After the break, Netflix and Marvel continue to tease us as DD, Punisher and Elektra suit up.

Daredevil Season Two Trailer Two Will Make You Wish It Was March 18th.

Part one of the official Daredevil Season Two trailer focused on newcomer Frank Castle, aka The Punisher.  The part two trailer focuses on another newcomer, former DD lover and season one easter egg, Elektra.

Watch it after the cut.  And watch season two of Daredevil on Netflix on March 18th, but I didn’t need to tell you that.

Trailer Time: Daredevil Season Two

Marvel's Daredevil season 2 drops on Netflix

A two part trailer?  That’s kinda nutty.

But I will say this:  this may be the most nuanced version of the Punisher I’ve ever seen, and this is just some select clips from the show.  I am assuming the Elektra stuff is saved for the next one aside from that briefest of brief glimpses.  But the Punisher has this real “Killing Joke” vibe going for him when he talks about one bad moment.

This is probably going to rock.  Trailer after the cut.

Jimmy Attempts To Read All Of Secret Wars 53 (What Year Is It? Edition)

1872_2

Most alternate realities that make up the multiverse at both Marvel and DC Comics are variations on a theme.  There are some completely originally universes, but most are inhabited by Elseworlds and What If? stories that take our familiar heroes and villains and apply a twist.  Maybe the hero and villain have changed roles.  Or our hero was raised in Russia instead of on a farm in the middle of the US.

A common twist is to time displace characters.  For example, what if Batman was around in the days of Jack The Ripper?  In 2003, writer Neil Gaiman transplanted the Marvel Universe to the Elizabethan Era in the hit 1602.  Not surprisingly, a domain of Battleworld gets dedicated to this time period in 1602 Witch Hunger Angela.  Unfortunately, while the original series was a huge success, this Secret Wars version is quite poor.  But to fulfill my contract here at Gabbing Geek, I still need to cover the last two issues after the break.

In much the same vein, the Secret Wars series 1872 takes the Marvel Universe and places it in the old West.  So after the break I’ll also be cluing up the final 3 issues of that series…for better or worse.  (For worse if you ask Ryan.)

Jimmy Attempts To Read All Of Secret Wars 50 (Civil War Edition)

civil_war_2

Way back in the middle of July I reviewed Civil War #1.  Six months and 4 issues later I’ll finally look at Civil War #2-5 after the break.  The series was a bit of a mixed bag starting off but unlike many of the Secret Wars series, really finished strong.  It is currently ranked 12th in our nearly completed Secret Wars Power Rankings.

Forget Daredevil V Batsoup, March 18th Is The Day Without Fear

daredevil_season_two_poster

Well, that March 25th Marvel/DC showdown rumor didn’t last long.  Netflix has officially announced Daredevil Season Two is dropping a week earlier than Batsoup on March 18th.  With Punisher and Elektra joining the fray and probably more Frank Miller influences than you can shake a baton at, this season is something to get very excited about.

Marvel at the poster above then check out the teaser trailer/date announcement after the cut.

Moon Knight? Really?

standard_fantastic

Daredevil has been a roaring success for Netflix, and with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist on the way, plus Elektra and the Punisher being added to Daredevil, it does seem to be a good place for Marvel’s street level heroes to get some exposure.

As it is, rumors suggest Netflix may be interested in Moon Knight for his own show.  Who is Moon Knight?  Answer after the cut.

So, what say we check out the trailer that dropped at NYCC over the weekend?  It has glimpses of Elektra and the Punisher.  What’s not to like?

See it after the cut.
