x-files-teaser

OK, I just finished watching the last of the new X-Files episodes, and as such, I feel like going on a Ryan-style rager.

SPOILERS for the last episode after the cut, because what the hell, man…

x-files-2016-images

We’re less than a week away from the debut of new X-Files episodes.  Who ever thought I’d be typing that in 2016?  After the cut, check out a new trailer with a tonne of new footage including everyone’s favorite Cigarette Smoking Man.

In other news, series creator Chris Carter revealed that he has already written a third X-Files movie.  Whether it ever sees the light of day will likely depend on the success of this six new episodes, and of course a commitment from the two main stars.

Non-Geek TV From The Geek Perspective: Eleventh Hour

Gabbing Geek What We're WatchingThere’s a lot of TV out there…and I haven’t done this column in a while for a wide variety of reasons, but then I subscribed to Acorn, an online streaming service for British television.  About a five dollars a month.  Can you beat that?  Even with a stick?  I sure couldn’t.  Man, the stuff there…

Oh, this week I’m writing about Eleventh Hour.

Ok, Now I’m Getting Excited About The Return Of The X-Files

x-files-teaser

As I mentioned in our 2016 anticipation column I’m trying to keep my expectations low for the new 6 episodes of The X-Files that will start airing on January 24th.  But after the break, check out the opening minute of the show which gives a very, very brief recap of the series.  It should have ended by seguing into the theme music, and maybe it will when the show airs, but either way it made me smile.

It’s No Family Matters Reunion Movie , But The X-Files Is Coming Back To TV

x-files-teaser

Seriously, there is a Family Matters reunion movie.  Ok, not exactly.  But the two lead characters are in a Christmas movie together airing  this weekend.  What does all this mean?  Just that I don’t really have much to write to lead into the 30 second X-Files promo that you can find after the cut.

X-Files Poster Revealed…The Smoking Man Returns!

x-files-david-duchovny

Sure, the big advertisement that popped out yesterday was for Star Wars, but another beloved sci-fi franchise dropped a poster too.

Yup, The X-Files also threw something out for the Interwebs for all to see.  What was it? Did you not read that poorly-worded title for this article?  See it after the cut.

Tom Recommends: Fringe

Gabbing Geek Tom Recommends v2

The entertainment industry has often used blatant rip-offs to make money.  Everybody knows this.  One successful movie, TV show, indie singer, etc, will lead to a slew of copycats that are often lesser versions of the original.

However, sometimes that look can be deceiving.  Though originally appearing to be something of an X-Files rip-off, the sci-fi drama Fringe soon evolved into something just as good, and in many ways better, than the prior show that it turned out it had little in common with beyond some superficial similarities.
