Ryan’s 2015 Movie Rankings

number one (image can be used for printing or web)

Yes, we’re already three weeks into 2016 but I finally managed to put together my movie rankings for 2015.  Because life.  I only managed to see 51 films this year, a paltry sum compared to Watson when he isn’t even trying. And eight of those were on a plane to or from China, making the theater total even lower.  Definitely a busy year, but overall a great one for movies.  Head after the jump to see how I ranked all 51!

MacGyver Coming Back To TV.

Will they attempt to replicate this hairstyle which is more iconic than Madame Xanadu?
Will they attempt to replicate this hairstyle which is more iconic than Madame Xanadu?

You’re James Wan.  You just directed the fifth highest grossing movie of all time in Furious 7.  What do you do next?  Predictably you reboot a twenty year old tv show that is probably incredibly painful to watch now because Tom Kelly and nostalgia.

If you are still interested, The Hollywood Reporter, uh, reports that a new series is in the works at CBS.  It will focus on a new 20-something year old new hotness MacG and not a broken down Richard Dean Anderson version.  Wan will executive produce and direct the pilot.

Everything old is new again.  What’s next, a Jem movie?  Ah…another A-Team reboot?  Geez…

Gabbing Geek Review: Box Office Year to Date

Hollywood_El_Capitan_box_office

We here at Gabbing Geek LOVE box office reports.  Ok….JUST me and Ryan.  Everyone else seems to hate them.  We’ve talked a lot about it the last few weeks, so let’s look at the winners and losers of this year’s box office as we wait for the Martian to officially kick off the Fall movie season.

Furious 7 Honest Trailer Brings Back All The Feels

Ryan and I are big fans of the Fast and the Furious franchise.  Well, except for the putrid Tokyo Drift excursion.  And part two was a bit of a stinker as well.  But parts 1 and 4 through 7 really hit it out of the ballpark!

But we can still have a sense of humor and laugh at even the things we love.  And nobody does a better job of pointing out the obvious issues in things we enjoy than Honest Trailers.  After the cut, see their take on Furious 7.  (Note: Contains massive spoilers for Furious 7.  But you’ve probably seen it since it’s made a bajillion dollars.)

Aquaman Has A Director

"My trident can cut through plastic can holders in three, sometimes two swipes."

After, well, a lot of negotiating, Warner Brothers has found a director for their Aquaman movie.

The movie, set to star Jason Momoa, a man who knows a thing or two about Atlantis since he used to be a cast member on Stargate Atlantis, as well as how to be a badass since his character nearly died of an infection on Game of Thrones, as well as being romantically linked for quite some time to a former Huxtable…wait, this article is about the Aquaman director.  I’ll stick that name after the cut, with some speculation from me.

Disney is going to make so much money in 2015 they’re recreating the Duck Tales title sequence in their offices.

2015 is not going to break records at the box office.  2015 is going to utterly demolish box office records on the heels of two mega-performers and a market that is ready to have some fun in the movie theater again.  Especially after this downer of an Oscar season.  But what ten movies am I boldly predicting will be the top in the 2015 box office?  Before we get to the top ten, let’s see what nine films will miss the cut.
