It’s like one of those magic images that you stare at for 5 minutes and suddenly it all comes together. So cool! Via: SHADOWKEY23713
What if our favorite Star Wars characters were actually ancient Greek philosophers, or artists, or rulers? That’s the take French artist Travis Durden took for a Star Wars themed art show in Paris in October. He used 3D modeling software on computers to recreate characters like Yoda, Darth Vader, and Boba Fett as Greek sculptures. See more pictures after the break, and check out Monsieur Durden’s website for more of his creative work.
This visionary art is created by none other than deviant artist breathing2004 aka Jian Guo. All in all, Guo has made so many different beautiful art pieces, it’s hard to feature them all. But we picked our some of our favorites from his Lord Of The Rings/ Tolkien tribute. But to get the full experience, be sure to check out his website, and see more after the break.
What if our favorite Disney Princesses decided to don a new look, and dress up as Superheroines? Who would they be? Well, thanks to Artist Isaiah K Stephens we can see what these amazing women would look like with their alter egos. For example, Aurora above has chosen to dress up as Daenerys Targaryen. See Belle, Ariel, and so much more after the break.
Every October, artists all over the world take on the InkTober drawing challenge by doing one ink drawing a day the entire month. Jake Parker created InkTober in 2009 as a challenge to improve his inking skills and develop positive drawing habits. It has since grown into a worldwide endeavor with thousands of artists taking on the challenge every year. Anyone can do InkTober, just pick up a pen and start drawing.
Here are the rules:
- Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).
- Post it on your blog (or tumblr, instagram, twitter, facebook, flickr, Pinterest or just pin it on your wall.)
- Hashtag it with #inktober
So what are you waiting for! If you have a special Inktober you’d like Gabbing Geek to feature, just send us an email at GabbingGeek@gmail.com
Artist Lagunaya really knows how to brighten up some of our favorite Disney villains. Just check out this beautiful redesign of Cruella De Vil. She also did our favorite Evil Queen to hate, see that after the break:
Today’s look at some amazing Geek art comes from the brilliant mind and brush of Darren Tan. Enjoy!
Artists are amazing in their own right, but watching an artist work – especially over a time-lapse is even better. Check out Youtuber Jeanne D’Art as she draws a portrait of Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay. The tools she used were: Prismacolor Premier, Derwent Coloursoft, Faber Castell and Zest it for blending. See it all come together in the video after the break:
Storm is one of my favorite X-Men characters, and I wanted to share with you this beautiful colored pencil drawing by Bruce Timm from BrowseTheStacks (Tumblr). The color, shape, and strength of storm is electrifying!
Which version of Storm is your favorite? Are you a classic or a mohawk kind of person?
Creative Station is an amazing YouTube channel – if you have never seen the awesome works of art and photoshop techniques they’ve created, then now’s the time. Check out this time lapse video as Angelina Jolie is transformed from a regular person into the villain we love to hate. Word to the wise…. photoshop changes everything. Don’t believe anything you see in a magazine ever again – it’s just unreal! Video after the break:
