What Movies Could Sneak Into 2015’s Top Ten Grossing Films? (or “How Bad is Ryan’s B.O.?”)

In a January article by Gabbing Geek’s own Ryan Garcia, he predicted the 2015 Top Ten Grossing films (domestic).  Rule of thumb says that to crack the top ten,  a film will need to surpass $200M+. Some of Ryan’s picks were right.  Some were wrong.    Where will we wind up and what could spoil Ryan’s top ten list?

Terminator Might Be Back After All

"I'll potentially return depending on macroeconomic conditions and currency valuations."
“I’ll potentially return depending on macroeconomic conditions and currency valuations.”

Reports of the Terminator’s demise may be premature.  Genisys’ performance in the US has certainly been on the weak side but movies are show business and the numbers aren’t as bad as we once thought.  Find out why after the break!

5 Unanswered Questions From Terminator: Genisys That We’ll Never Know Now

"I've come back in time to murder the answers to your questions. It won't stop anything but will be highly annoying. I'm basically the Steve Urkel of time travel warfare."
“I’ve come back in time to murder the answers to your questions. It won’t stop anything but will be highly annoying. I’m basically the Steve Urkel of time travel warfare.”

Terminator: Genisys faces an uphill battle to get a sequel after a horrible opening weekend left it with a long slog to hit $100 million domestically.  Which is a shame for all the interesting things the story did for the franchise.  Judging by the sub-30% score on Rotten Tomatoes, Jimmy Impossible and I may be the only people who enjoyed this movie so we’ll never know how these X questions will be resolved.  Jump after the break to see what we’re left wondering.

SPOILER WARNING: THE REST OF THIS POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR TERMINATOR: GENISYS.

6 Things Terminator: Genisys Did Wrong (Even Though It Was A Blast!)

"Is your name internal logic?" BLAM!
“Is your name internal logic?” BLAM!

Judging by this weekend’s box office it looks like the Terminator won’t be back and that’s a shame.  Because Terminator: Genisys was actually an excellent attempt to reboot this franchise while staying within the confines of the universe it created.  It is certainly better than the third and fourth films in the series even though it has the lowest Rotten Tomatoes score of the entire franchise.

I have a reputation for geek-raging on movies for no reason–naturally I believe my reasons to be appropriate.  I hated Jurassic World because it was the same story as the original and they didn’t try to do anything new.  So I was less inclined to forgive the silly mistakes because they weren’t even trying.  I loved Genisys because it tried to be a new story and take a familiar property in new directions–that’s bold for a franchise, especially one involving time travel.  Unfortunately, even Terminator Genisys can’t avoid some time travel problems.  So after the break we’ve got the top 6 mistakes made by an otherwise entertaining summer flick.

SPOILER WARNING: THE REST OF THE POST CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR TERMINATOR: GENISYS.

Disney is going to make so much money in 2015 they’re recreating the Duck Tales title sequence in their offices.

2015 is not going to break records at the box office.  2015 is going to utterly demolish box office records on the heels of two mega-performers and a market that is ready to have some fun in the movie theater again.  Especially after this downer of an Oscar season.  But what ten movies am I boldly predicting will be the top in the 2015 box office?  Before we get to the top ten, let’s see what nine films will miss the cut.

Nothing new to see here.  On several levels.
