Not all that many moons ago, Mad Max director George Miller was preparing to direct a Justice League movie called Justice League Mortal. Unfortunately, even though they had gotten quite far into development and even had the above cast, that movie was not to be. But recently surfaced photos of Megan Gale as Wonder Woman gives you some idea of what we could have expected. Catch it after the break.

In a January article by Gabbing Geek’s own Ryan Garcia, he predicted the 2015 Top Ten Grossing films (domestic). Rule of thumb says that to crack the top ten, a film will need to surpass $200M+. Some of Ryan’s picks were right. Some were wrong. Where will we wind up and what could spoil Ryan’s top ten list?
Well I got your facts about Mad Max: Fury Road….RIGHT HERE!
Unlike my fellow Gabbing Geeks Jenny and Watson, I never got to see the new documentary The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? complete with a director Q&A. Mainly because I was about 3500 miles away from the theatre the night they went. Anyway, I’ll catch the movie soon when it hits the Blu-Rays and other consumable outlets.
But that potential Nic Cage/Tim Burton collaboration wasn’t the only Superman related movie to come oh so close and fall apart. Way back in 2009, Warner Bros and DC were on the verge of making a Justice League film starring Armie Hammer as Batman, Megan Gale as Wonder Woman, Adam Brody as the Flash and Common as Green Lantern. Obviously this film never happened. But why?
2015 is not going to break records at the box office. 2015 is going to utterly demolish box office records on the heels of two mega-performers and a market that is ready to have some fun in the movie theater again. Especially after this downer of an Oscar season. But what ten movies am I boldly predicting will be the top in the 2015 box office? Before we get to the top ten, let’s see what nine films will miss the cut.
The latest episode of your favorite weekly geek podcast is here and we’re covering Mad Max: Fury Road, a fun game about moms of geek characters, and we rewrite endings to our favorite geek properties. Listen to it now or jump after the break to find out more!
I think anyone who reads this site and pays attention to bylines knows my thoughts on nostalgia. Heck, I wrote a whole piece last week saying horrible things about Krull more or less for that very reason. I wasn’t planning on seeing the new Mad Max at all for a number of reasons, ranging from not being a Mad Max fan to being generally against remakes. But the reviews started coming in very positive, and Ryan and Watson were both raving about it, and hey, Ryan may like Krull, but Watson sure didn’t (he likes Clue), so that means there’s a variety of opinion out there.
So, I went. And I loved it. Further SPOILER-FREE comments after the cut.

Take this with a huge grain of salt. Or sand. Or salty sand. But Time is reporting that Tom Hardy is attached to three more Mad Max films after this summer’s flaming-tornado-desert-race pic. Director George Miller already has the screenplay for the second and a novelization of the third, which is important because we all know Mad Max films are only as good as their literary origins. The fourth movie? Who knows.
Mad Max Fury Road comes out on May 15 and will have the first Batsoup trailer–which anyone with an internet connection will also be able to watch.
