Because You Asked For It, An Honest Trailer For Superman Returns

You can never unsee this now.
Luckily we got Superman Returns instead of this. Or was it?

The folks over at Honest Trailers ran their own Batman v Superman contest and the winner (barely) was the Man of Steel.  As a reward, Screen Junkies had to agree to make on Honest Trailer for 2006’s failed Superman reboot, Superman Returns.  Yeah.  Watch it after the break.

Honest Trailers Doesn’t Think The Jungle Book (1967) Was Much Of A Movie

jungle_book_honest_trailer

It’s been a loooong time since I’ve seen the original Jungle Book and I don’t have much of an interest in the new Jungle Book that just destroyed the box office and Watson’s box office predictions for this year.  Tom posted a review of the new version earlier today, so if you are interested in the movie, be sure to check that out.  If you need a good laugh and a refresher on all things Jungle Book (1967) watch the Honest Trailer after the break.

Ok, We Get It Honest Trailers, Force Awakens Was A New Hope

force_awakens_honest_trailer

But that doesn’t take away from it being so damn good.  After the break see the guys at Honest Trailers compare the latest Star Wars with the original classic.

No Mr. Bond, I Expect You To Watch These Honest Trailers

SPECTRE opens

Spectre is the first Bond film I didn’t see in the theatres since…well, I guess Die Another Day (which I think I only watched for the first time last year).  I’ve never been a huge Bond fan, though I have seen all the films.  I just find sometimes that they get too ridiculous and the puns would drive me crazy.  Especially last going off with Brosnan.

So the Daniel Craig, I guess it’s safe to call them rebooted Bonds films have been more up my alley.  They are a bit of a catch-22 for me though.  What I like about them is that they get away from a lot of the corniness and one liners, etc. that frustrated me about many other Bond films.  However in doing so, they really just become Generic Spy Thriller Movie.  Which I don’t mind, but they are not very “Bond-y”.

Moving on, I was let down by Spectre (I wrote up some of my thoughts in a comment on Ryan’s review) especially after Skyfall, which is probably my favourite Bond of all time.  After the break catch up on the Honest Trailers for Skyfall and Spectre where they touch on one of my issues with the new film.  Remember how I said the Craig films weren’t full of Bond tropes?  Well, many are back this go round.   It’s no wonder I was down on it.

Honest Trailers For Batman And Superman…Yes, “And”, Not “v”

batman-superman-honest-trailer

A bit late to the hype party here but after the break check out Honest Trailers for the 1989 Batman and the 1978 Superman.  The films that showed these heroes could be done justice.  (See what I did there?)

Mockingjay Part Two Honest Trailer Is Better Than The Movie

Hunger_Games_KatnissThrone_1Sheet

I liked all of the Hunger Games movies until Mockingjay Part 2.  Even Part 1, which a lot of people did not like.  I thought Part Two was just horrible.  I haven’t read the books so it is hard for me to say how they could have juggled and edited the story to condense it down into one sensible movie.  I understand financially why they didn’t, but quality wise it might have worked out better for all involved.

With the release of Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 on Blu-ray next week (and DVD I guess…do people still buy DVDs?  Does anyone besides me still buy Blu-rays?) the good folks at Honest Trailers give us their take on the film after the break.  Includes massive spoilers, so fair warning if you haven’t seen the movie.

No One Is Safe In This Honest Trailer For The Walking Dead

walking_dead_honest_trailer_2

I love The Walking Dead.  The folks at Honest Trailers…have a few issues with it.  After the break, see what they have to say about seasons 4-6, complete with spoilers through the end of 2015.

Honest Trailer For Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D

agentsofshieldhonesttrailer

I haven’t given up on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D yet like many have.  I know the first half of season one was a bit weak, but they really hit it out of the ballpark post Captain America: Winter Soldier.  As for the current Inhumans storyline…well…like I said, I haven’t given up on it, but I do have a backlog of episodes on my DVR that I never seem in any rush to watch.  I’m sure I will…eventually.

In the meantime, get a taste for what you’ve been missing when Honest Trailers turns their sights from the usual blockbusters to the small screen and cover this black sheep of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Honest Trailer For That Knee Slapping Comedy The Martian

martian

If you’ve been around these parts from the days when we used to do a podcast, you know around here we love The Martian.  But I’m sorry Golden Globes, the funniest thing to do with The Martian is it being nominated (and winning!) the GG for Best Comedy.  It has some very funny moments, but is not a comedy.

Just my little dated rant for today.  Also slightly dated, after the cut be sure to watch what Honest Trailers think about Matt Damon needing to be rescued.  Again.
