Yes, we’re already three weeks into 2016 but I finally managed to put together my movie rankings for 2015. Because life. I only managed to see 51 films this year, a paltry sum compared to Watson when he isn’t even trying. And eight of those were on a plane to or from China, making the theater total even lower. Definitely a busy year, but overall a great one for movies. Head after the jump to see how I ranked all 51!

2015 is over in a few more hours, so how was the year we just had? You know, from a Geek Perspective?
Some good, some bad. Like every year.
A while back, I posted some thoughts on the movie Inside Out, suggesting the themes and ideas behind it made it more of a movie for parents than the kids they took to see it.
Well, YouTube personality Nerdwriter did an even more extensive look at the movie, involving psychological theories and artistic ideas behind the film that are even more extensive than my own ramblings. That guy is good. See his video analysis after the cut, though there is about 30 seconds worth of him asking for support at the end of the video.
I don’t get to the movies as often as I would like, which means sometimes I am a bit late seeing things. But they give me space to write here, so here’s a quick review of Big Hero 6.

We all loved Inside Out. It’s your usual tear-inducing Pixar film. Well, the good folks at Honest Trailers did their thing with it. See it after the cut.

The Alamo Drafthouse is the best theater chain in the country in large part because of their preshow entertainment. The fact that you can order food and drinks from your reserved-ahead-of-time-seat is great, of course, and the special events they host from quote-a-longs to fan festivals are always outstanding. But the clips and commercials and trailers and funny videos that entertain you before the movie starts is what proves the Drafthouse loves movies. Other big theater chains cram commercials down your throats with songs about soda and the latest ABC Family show that will be cancelled in its first season–not the Drafthouse.
The Drafthouse preshow not only sets the stage for the upcoming film but also sets the theater apart from all others. So I was thrilled recently to be electronically introduced to Laird Jimenez (follow him on Twitter!), the man responsible for putting together these amazing shows. Laird agreed to take time from his busy schedule to answer a few Gabbing Geek questions so head after the jump to peek behind the scenes on how it’s all put together!
