In a January article by Gabbing Geek’s own Ryan Garcia, he predicted the 2015 Top Ten Grossing films (domestic). Rule of thumb says that to crack the top ten, a film will need to surpass $200M+. Some of Ryan’s picks were right. Some were wrong. Where will we wind up and what could spoil Ryan’s top ten list?
Did you grow up with Goosebumps, either on the page or the TV? I didn’t. I was a bit too old when they came out. Yeah, yeah, poor me.
Well, the never-ending fountain of hopeful nostalgia profit that is Hollywood has a Goosebumps movie coming out around Halloween with Jack Black playing R.L. Stine. Interested at all? See the trailer after the cut.
Talking animals in some sort of anthropomorphic version of China must make a mint. That’s the best explanation for why Dreamworks is coming out with Kung Fu Panda 3. This one has Jack Black’s Po apparently meeting his biological father (voiced by Bryan Cranston) and then has to train the lost pandas in the art of macrame. I meant kung fu. Time to double down on martial arts obese mammals.
Oscar winner J.K. Simmons is the bad guy.
I’ll admit to liking the first one, but never really sat through the second from start to finish. So, I have nothing more to add aside from a quick mention that there’s a trailer after the cut.
The easy answer is, when I’m in line at the movie rental store, I’m much more likely to pick up something geeky or a stupid comedy than some heart wrenching drama. One of those three usually gets accolades. The other 4/5ths (#jennymath) usually do not. And to celebrate the worst of movies that Jimmy likely saw, they invented the Razzies. Given out 24 hours before Neil Patrick Harris shocked the world and brought Gabbing Geek to its knees by mentioning Clue in the opening musical number, here are your 2015 Razzie winners…
