CONFIRMED: Jar Jar Binks Cast As Young Han Solo

jarjarGabbing Geek sources have just confirmed that Jar Jar Binks will be cast as young Han Solo in the upcoming standalone Star Wars film.

“Meesa trolling,” president of Disney’s Lucasfilms division Kathleen Kennedy announced in a press release.  “Meesa trolling so hard.”

Stay tuned to as additional details are revealed.

Jar Jar Speaks!

Who’s the character Star Wars fans hate the most?  Bing Bon…Jar Jar Binks!

You know, there is a guy behind the character.  Ever wonder what he thinks of all that?  He…actually seems to have taken the whole experience in stride.  In an Skype interview with Star Wars superfan Jaime Stangroom, actor Ahmed Best comes across pretty well. Yeah, you may still not like the character, but you can at least find something decent to say about Best, who seems fully aware why Jar Jar is so despised.  Plus, he says he has no interest in going back to Star Wars.

See the interview after the cut, which ends with Best doing the Jar Jar voice to do Liam Neeson’s famous monologue from Taken.

It’s about damn time.

Star Wars Rewatch: Revenge Of The Sith

The consensus seems to be that Revenge of the Sith is, in fact, the best of the prequels.  True, that can be damning with faint praise, but…well, let’s see what the Geeks have to say about this one.

Star Wars Rewatch: Attack Of The Clones

OK, Star Wars fans. quick question:  which movie was worse, Phantom Menace or Attack of the Clones?

See, Menace has the comedic stylings of Jar Jar Binks and obnoxious pre-teen Anakin Skywalker.  Attack has a lot of half-assed romance and obnoxious post-teen Anakin Skywalker.  I’d actually rather see Phantom Menace given the choice.  At least that one had some pod racing.

But hey, we’re not skipping Attack of the Clones.

Star Wars Rewatch: The Phantom Menace

The Force Awakens opens on the 18th.  Star Wars fans can barely contain themselves.  They got the original band back together (mostly), and the epic saga continues with a new generation.

To better prepare ourselves, we here at Gabbing Geek are doing a Star Wars rewatch, with a movie covered a day until the 18th rolls around, skipping weekends.

Here’s our first installment on Episode I:  The Phantom Menace.

Podcast Reaction: Fixing Prequels Edition

Not shown above: a passionate love story for the ages.

This week on the podcast, those darn Gabbing Geeks discussed how to fix disappointing stories.  They also discussed pop culture mothers after Mother’s Day, but I don’t have anything to add there.  They also discussed feminist action heroes, but that might be the work of a future column.

Just go see Mad Max:  Fury Road if you haven’t already.

But I’m going to take a moment to discuss how to fix a certain infamous set of prequels.

Viva La Jar Jar!

"Mesa dispicable?"

On Star Wars Day, Aron wrote an article about JJ Abrams stealthily killing off Jar Jar in Episode 7.  Not so fast.  He’s the new star of the franchise according to this “released footage”!
