Continuing my seldom read (hey Johnathon!) run down of three new comics I’ve read this week. I keep the variety rolling with Multiversity and…hmm….two Spider titles. I really need to branch out my interests.
News on a TV series I find so intriguing that I cared enough to write an article on a TV series. Yeah. It’s about DC’s Titans. Per Nerdist: the team will consist of Dick Grayson (he starts as Robin and shifts later to Nightwing), Barbara Gordon (the exact origin as Oracle, but the word “Oracle”is left unsaid in the pilot), Hawk and Dove (the female Dove here, not the original), Raven, and Starfire. No mention of why Danny Chase, the most popular Titan ever*, was not included in the show. We expect massive firings to occur at WB over this.
Here’s my take of the news:
Way back in the year 2000, I was snooping around the DC Comics message boards and came across a debate over who the various members of the Justice League at the time would vote for in the 2000 Presidential election One particularly memorable individual insisted that all the various Leaguers would have obviously voted for George W. Bush except for that “treehugger” Aquaman.
There is one problem with this assumption: Aquaman at the time couldn’t really vote in an American election. He was the king of Atlantis. You know, foreign citizen. And given the way he was being written in his solo title at the time, it probably didn’t matter much to him who the president was. Plus, there aren’t many trees to hug on the bottom of the sea. Oh, and he’s a fictional character.
There are many superheroes. There are many talking rabbits. In the giant venn diagram of both such creations, there isn’t much overlap.
Into that realm steps the mighty Captain Carrot.
I know everyone is just like me and SUPER excited about the world release of Justice League: Throne of Atlantis (aka- The Aquaman Animated Film That Watson Is Eagerly Awaiting!) But because he is the king of the oceans AND DC thought feting him once simply wasn’t enough, Aquaman is getting a Pacific AND Atlantic World Premiere!
