Geek Review: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part Two

The third Hunger Games movie seemed a wee bit…uneventful.  That’s what happens when moviemakers take a book that wasn’t any longer than the previous two and splits it into two movies.  Stuff needs to be added to justify spreading things out that much.

The result is the second part of what should have been one movie had all the resolution set up by a largely actionless movie where the two most exciting things to occur were a  bombing campaign on a hospital and Peeta thrashing on a bed.  How did the series resolve all this?  SPOILER-free review after the cut.

Why Inside Out Is Not A Kids Movie!

Inside Out returns Pixar to a place it hasn’t been in a long time in terms of sheer quality.  The originality and character design, in the service of a great story, can remind viewers what quality craftsmanship for family entertainment can be.  There’s material in there that is appropriate for children, while being sophisticated enough to entertain the adults stuck watching it with them.

Can’t say that about The Smurfs, can you?

But after seeing the movie, I have to say, I don’t think this movie is aimed much at children.  Children can certainly enjoy it, but the real core of the movie is for their parents.  SPOILERS and explanations after the cut.

Disney Pixar’s new movie Inside Out is currently making waves at the theater, and now with the help of blogger Leslie Kay of Disney Bound, you too can dress to the nines as your favorite Inside Out character. Leslie uses items you can find in your own closet or at a local mall to complete the looK from head to toe. And she doesn’t stop at just the Inside Out characters, her blog features everything from Mickey Mouse, to Finding Nemo and Winnie The Pooh. Awesome Cosplay Of The Day: PIXAR’S INSIDE OUT

Pixar’s new movie ‘Inside Out’ was officially released today! And to celebrate, Disney employees who work in Imagineering got an early jump on cosplaying this awesome animated feature and arrived to work as the film’s main characters—Fear, Sadness, Joy, Disgust and Anger. Thanks to Janice Rosenthal, in the role of Disgust (the green one), for submitting the pic to Cartoon Brew.
