Geek Review: The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part Two

Hunger-Games

The third Hunger Games movie seemed a wee bit…uneventful.  That’s what happens when moviemakers take a book that wasn’t any longer than the previous two and splits it into two movies.  Stuff needs to be added to justify spreading things out that much.

The result is the second part of what should have been one movie had all the resolution set up by a largely actionless movie where the two most exciting things to occur were a  bombing campaign on a hospital and Peeta thrashing on a bed.  How did the series resolve all this?  SPOILER-free review after the cut.

Does The Last Hunger Games Movie Change The Ending?

Hunger-Games

The final Hunger Games movie opens in less than a month and the marketing blitz is about to begin. It seems an odd thing to market–if you read the books or saw the first three movies of course you’ll see the final film. Even if the third film wasn’t so great. But the recent round of content has me wonderinf if perhaps the movie has a surprise in store and will change the ending from the books. Read after the break to explore this theory.

[WARNING: HUNGER GAMES BOOK SPOILERS AND POSSIBLY MOVIE SPOILERS AFTER THE BREAK]

Another Geek Tip: Just Don’t Bother With Divergent. At All.

She doesn't look confused enough to my way of thinking in this picture.
She doesn’t look confused enough to my way of thinking in this picture.

Earlier today, Ryan suggested not seeing the movie version of the third Divergent book.

You know what?  I’m going to take it one step further and say not to bother with the entire Divergent series.  Reasons why and maybe some SPOILERS after the cut.

Trailer Time: It’s Them Darn Hunger Games Again

AttheMovies_t670

Hey, you know what’s awesome about The Hunger Games?

If you said the allegorical elements tying the story into today’s fame-obsessed world, Jennifer Lawrence’s natural charisma, the ongoing struggle between the powerful and the powerless, the nature of rebellion, cool action scenes, or even just Peta thrashing on a bed, man, are you wrong according to the new teaser trailer.  The correct answer is “Prim”.  You know, Katniss’ sister?  Eh, trailer after the cut.

Say hello to Jennifer Lawrence cosplayer Shmuberry. We think her depictions of Katniss Everdeen from the Hungergames is quite exquisite. This cosplay is a little more than meets the eye. The breastplate was 3D printed! It was modelled by Wilbert Pierce Designs and printed by Kevin from madein3d.ca. Shmuberry insists that they are both really open to work with cosplayers so make sure to contact them if you are interested in 3D printed cosplay items. 🙂 May the odds be ever in your favor (after the break):
