For some Friday free time – here is a video created by the Brotherhood Workshop as a way for The LEGO Group to advertise their “Escape from the Haunted Isle” online game.

Dismantling the Millennium Falcon To Build Indominus Rex!
Say hello to Luke everyone! “Hi LUKE!” Luke loves dinosaurs – and recently was inspired by Jurassic World. So inspired in fact, that he deconstructed his LEGO Millennium Falcon to get enough grey pieces to build the new Indominus Rex from the movie! Now – though we all think the Millennium Falcon should never be deconstructed, because well – it’s the Millennium Falcon! We still have to give props to Luke for being super ingenious and hard core! Awesome replica of the Rex-Raptor hybrid Luke – this scores a win for creativity! Well done!

Cinderella Castle Made of 50,000 LEGO Bricks Is A Thing Of Dreams!
WOWZERS! Would you look at that! We can all thank Erik Jones for building a castle that makes us think of “once upon a time.” He built it from 50,000 LEGO bricks. Jones–already a LEGO builder–was inspired by taking a close look at Cinderella’s Castle on a visit to the Magic Kingdom at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. He took his time designing the castle in LEGO Digital Designer and used original blueprint sketches he found online for the castle before starting to piece it together in January. The finished model of Cinderella’s Castle stands at six and a half feet high and is four and a half feet wide. By the time all 50,000 bricks were clicked into place, Jones estimates he spent $4,500 on supplies. I wonder if I ask my fairy Godmother really nicely, if she’d build something like this for me too! Want to see more pics? Check it out after the break:

LEGO “Side by Side With A Friend”
Remember that time in Lord of The Rings where Legolas and Gimli are talking about dying, and they have that very heartfelt moment together – well – The Brotherhood Workshop made their own version of that scene out of LEGOS, and you don’t want to miss Gimli’s reaction to Legolas being…..well…..Legolas.
Lego Infinite Jest?

I’m an English teacher by profession, and as such I make it my New Year’s Resolution to read one massive work of literature every calendar year. This year’s work was Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace, which in print comes out to well over 1,000 pages. And it’s…something. I had co-workers ask me what it was about. I wasn’t sure what to tell them. My department head asked me twice, the second time to say it in a sentence or two. That is impossible. The book doesn’t actually have much in the way of a plot, you see, and it more of a free-roaming satire. What plot strands it does have are slow to blossom and most are never even really resolved. Plus, there’s a lot of body humor of the lowest sort, and I’m not really a fan of that.
But now, you too can find out what the book is about in a way that may make more sense than asking me. Capital University English professor Kevin Griffith and his 11, possibly 12 as of this writing, year-old stepson Sebastian have been recreating the entire book using Legos over at their site Brickjest. From what I’ve seen, they’ve done an excellent job, and while Infinite Jest isn’t exactly the height of casual reading, I’d say doing that much with Legos must count as something.
