Jar Jar Speaks!

Who’s the character Star Wars fans hate the most?  Bing Bon…Jar Jar Binks!

You know, there is a guy behind the character.  Ever wonder what he thinks of all that?  He…actually seems to have taken the whole experience in stride.  In an Skype interview with Star Wars superfan Jaime Stangroom, actor Ahmed Best comes across pretty well. Yeah, you may still not like the character, but you can at least find something decent to say about Best, who seems fully aware why Jar Jar is so despised.  Plus, he says he has no interest in going back to Star Wars.

See the interview after the cut, which ends with Best doing the Jar Jar voice to do Liam Neeson’s famous monologue from Taken.

Geek Lit: Taken (Alex Verus Book 3)

untitled

Benedict Jacka’s Alex Verus often refers to himself as a not particularly powerful mage in a world where many mages, particularly battlemages, could easily clean his clock in a lethal manner.  Why then is he still alive?

Because his magic gift is seeing potential futures.  Review and some SPOILERS after the cut.

The Candy Crush Movie

Candy-crush-saga-portada

Lots of people play Candy Crush.  Why?  I dunno.  I mean, I play, but I couldn’t tell you why.  Compelling storyline?  Nope.  Interesting characters?  Nope.  People like spending a ton of money on a glorified version of Bejeweled?  Apparently.

But say, the company that makes the game was recently acquired by Activision, which is trying to make movies off their products.  Someone after the cut speculated what a Candy Crush movie would look like.

“Maze Runner” Director Moving On To Jotunheim

Not a scene from the source material, which is too bad.
Not a scene from the source material, which is too bad.

So, YA movies are the big thing, and when they do well enough to earn a sequel, or at least the contract that got signed more or less suggests the studio is going to do a sequel anyway, but most likely the former, then sometimes the director will be in demand for other things.

That’s what happened for Maze Runner director Wes Ball, whose been tapped to direct something about the Norse gods.

ICYMI-Taken 3: The Worst Film of 2015

tombstone

Taken 3 isn’t just the worst film because not many movies are out this year.  It’s the worst because it is THE WORST.  But first, because it must be done, to the entire production crew of Taken 3:

I don’t know who you are.  I don’t know how you think.  If you are looking for my money, I can tell you that you already have it.  But what I do have are a very particular set of writing skills, skills I have acquired over a very long career.  Skills that make me review crap made by people like you.  If you stop no, this will be the end of it.  I will not review you again, I will not pursue you.  But if you make Taken 4, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will review the s&*t out of you.

If Sony get REALLY desperate…

For years, Marvel couldn’t get a movie off the ground and DC owned the big screen with Superman and Batman.
