This week on the podcast, we saw Watson’s morals crumble under the weight of peer pressure. While I am flattered that an article of mine would attract some attention, I was writing about various Geek Icons, all over 60 years of age, who may or may not be around much longer. Seeing as how the conversation turned to who might die next and how much money might be down on that, I was a wee bit dismayed. And I will not be putting a bet down on Betty White. No. I won’t be. The age thing is why Carrie Fisher was left off, by the by.
But good for Watson for holding out for a little over a minute.
Now I’m going to agree with one of his other points.
Look. Just deal with the fact that every little sliver of Aquaman related cinema news will be paraded out on this site with the same level of excitement as Age of Ultron or Force Awakens. That’s right. Anything and everything Aquaman related? Gonna be posted here for us to all bask in its salty goodness! (That was a salt water/ocean reference, perv!)
It’s Oscar season, and we are looking for a Gabbing Geek way to cover Hollywood’s biggest night, so today we take a look at the best and worst performances by an Oscar Winning performer while playing a character in a comic book superhero film. Some of them were future winners when they donned the tights, others already had the Oscars on the shelf.
We are leaving out movies like Teen Age Mutant Ninja Turtles and other non-superhero comic films, so you gotta be a superhero property to be eligible here! So who is the best and who is the worst (and a bonus for comic completionists, the full list of every Oscar winning performer to play in the genre!)? Let’s read on, shall we?
The trash talk that cost me hundreds of dollars and many hours. Instead of seeing 100, I saw 145! But before that, I saw 52. Here’s the post I wrote a year ago, before we launched the Gabbing Geek website. Has it held up?
With Superhero movies becoming more and more popular and prevalent these days, it’s time to discuss the gender balance (or lack there of) we tend to see in such movies. We are familiar with the popularity of Batman, Superman, Spider-man, Ironman, Aquaman(? – if only to Watson), etc. But where do the female superheros fit in this male dominated franchise? With kick-ass characters like Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Blackwidow, and more…how have we failed to properly tip the scales so that movie goers are seeing equal representation on screen?
This week, I unveiled my Top 20 and bottom 20 movies. What about the other 105 flicks that made up the crazy list? For your browsing amusement, here is the ENTIRE list of 2014 movies viewed by Gabbing Geek film fan extraordinaire. Enjoy!
The best films of the year deserve much greater examination. For a full review of each film #1-10, check out my list.
