Blab had a little technical issues towards the end but we managed to get out our latest blabcast as both an audio-only podcast (which you can listen to here or on any of your favorite downloadable sources) or as a video where you can see all of our fun facial expressions! In this episode we discuss the new Dr Strange trailer, FOUR new Avatar movies, and then provide some geek recommendations for TV (The Magicians), comic books (all things Star Wars), and books (The Rook, Discworld). Check it out now or head after the break for the full video.
Our second ever blabcast is now available as an audio-only podcast (which you can listen to here or on any of your favorite downloadable sources) or as a video where you can see all of our fun facial expressions! This time the gang talks about Marvel Netflix news, the Rogue One trailer, and upcoming May movie releases. Check it out now or head after the break for the full video.
Readers of this blog and listeners to our podcast know that I love box office numbers. I’ve also recently become intrigued by the Good Judgment project after hearing about them on the Freakonomics podcast. Their website has a number of political, news, and pop culture questions they invite the public to predict and they recently asked what were the chances that Civil War would outgross Batman v. Superman (which brought in an amazing $166M on opening weekend).
I was surprised to see so many people saying Civil War would outgross Batsoup with almost not thought into the matter, so I decided to make my own prediction and analysis. Jump after the break to read why I think it is unlikely for Civil War to beat Batsoup and let me know your thoughts in the comments.
Not an April Fools Joke, this is seriously a brand new episode of Gabbing Geek! And not only is it audio but video as well! Jump after the break to see the full video of the session or you can download the audio from your favorite podcast source.
In this episode we talk about the things we’ve been geeking out on for the past few months and then play a cruel, cruel game of Spoiler Trivia. Ryan has to answer trivia questions and for every one he misses the questioner gets to reveal a spoiler about Batman v. Superman (because Ryan is so lame he still hasn’t seen it). Find out what happens after the break!
I’m totally off the grid these days, but Ryan’s predictions are so bad I had to come in and rip them to shreds and give you the REAL numbers. His bold predictions about how the 2015 domestic box office would turn out were pretty weak. He called his performance was mixed–but for him mixed was chocolate plus peanut butter. In reality, it is a mix of Ex-lax and motor oil. So I am going to go, one by one, through his 2016 picks and give the real number. We have a lunch bet on who has the lowest delta between the acutals and their predictions. NO PRICE IS RIGHT RULES IN EFFECT!
One year ago I made some bold predictions about how the 2015 domestic box office would turn out. My performance was mixed–got some, missed some others. But now it’s time to look ahead to 2016. Jump after the break to see what I predict will be the top ten grossing films of the year along with 33 other movies I’m making some bold predictions on!
Wait a minute–we have a podcast?!? It’s been a while since the Geeks were able to record but there was no stopping us talking about a certain new movie that came out last week. So join the entire gang (and we mean entire gang) for a bonus-sized conversation about everything The Force Awakens! Give us a listen right now or jump after the break to read more!
Gabbing Geek’s Halloween Costume this year is Retro-Gabbing Geek! Yes, that’s right, we’re going back into time (this time without a DeLorean) and revisiting our very first Halloween Special. Take a walk down memory lane as we enjoy this spooktacular episode from last year, where we’re still wearing diapers. Listen now if you dare!
In case you haven’t seen a single piece of social media content all week then let us be the first to tell you–it’s Back to the Future Day! October 21, 2015 is the actual day Marty McFly visited the future (and not every other day since 2010 thanks to a lame meme generator). In honor of this special day filled with fond memories and NO HOVERBOARDS, our Back to the Future Special covers future predictions, pitches for Back to the Future part 4, and a time-themed trivia contest bound to make people angry! Take a listen to the podcast right now or jump after the break to find out more!
According to Den of Geek, a deal may have been struck to bring the Fantastic Four back into the fold of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While news broke earlier that Fox was ordering two X-Men based TV shows, Hellfire and Legion, it seems that Fox may have received the new TV rights in exchange for bringing the FF back into the main MCU.
This Fantastic Four deal could help explain why Fox suddenly received some broad, new rights for content in a world when Marvel is succeeding on every medium, but it also may help explain why three MCU films are scheduled to be released in 6 months of 2020. Official details haven’t been released yet so stay tuned for more on this intriguing development.
