Geek Review: Fantastic Four (2015)

A four is not a vowel.

So, I finally saw the new Fantastic Four.

Look, no one logging in here today is looking for a Fantastic Four movie review.  You want Star Wars.  But I’m prepping for an unexpected but totally expected journey.  I couldn’t go today.  Instead, I went for this…whatever it was…on pay per view.

Possible Other Michael B. Jordan As The Son Of Carl Weathers Sequels

For a movie that sounded like it was a bad joke…Sylvestor Stalone’s Rocky training the son of Carl Weather’s Apollo Creed…Creed has been getting an incredible amount of buzz.  Oscar buzz even.  Jenny says it is fantastic, so I might have to check it out.  (I have seen six more Rocky movies than Jenny, so I might have a bit of a different perspective.)

The critics weren’t kind.  Audiences gave it an equally bad grade.  Could Fantastic Four even hold off a popular Mission Impossible film in its second frame?  

Four Fantastic Reasons YOU SHOULD SEE The Fantastic Four

If you happened to listen to our podcast the other day, you would have known that I was looking forward to seeing the new Fantastic Four movie. My heart was broken on air when I found out that the Rotten Tomatoes average review score was at a measly 18%, only to spiral downward Thursday morning to a whopping 8% – dear god! That’s only 2% better than Paul Blart 2. I was ready for this movie to be DOOMED.

But you know what? The critics are suffering from MCU syndrome. They have all been spoiled for too long. And sometimes they get it wrong, just see these previous examples.  Fantastic Four is a fun movie! That’s right – I like it! Forget about losing the Star Wars standalone film.  Josh Trank’s next assignment will be directing Joey Tribbiani’s next Gonorrhea commercial based on  the 10% Rotten Tomatoes score that Fantastic Four is currently sporting.  But I gotta tell you.  It ain’t fair.  Fantastic Four is a smart movie that delivers something bold and fresh.  Find out why the critics missed the mark after the jump.

Eventually, Marvel caught and passed DC; which will try to return to the pinnacle with Batsoup.
