Defending The Grade: Batsoup

70%? That’s a passing grade, right?

Yesterday, the last of the Gabbing Geek crew, Ryan, finally saw Batman Vs. Superman Vs. All Common Sense.  He didn’t like it and left a long, often amusing, ever-expanding when he remembers something else list of the film’s flaws.  For my part, I thought it would be fun to write a tongue-in-cheek reply listing everything that was “right” about the movie.  That was rough because I wanted the same number of points as Ryan’s original post, and he has since added a few more.  There may be more by the time I finish typing this and more still when it goes live.  Check in often and make sure.

However, Ryan made note of the fact that the others ’round these parts, either on post or podcast, rated the movie above a five out of ten.  My own grade was a seven out of ten.  I stand by that.  So, in the interest of filling up space, allow me to explain my reasoning a bit.

Masters Of The Universe? Seriously? Why Not Make It A Go-Bots Team-Up While You’re At It?

Near as I can make out, the ONLY Masters of the Universe themed picture in the Gabbing Geek media library, and that’s assuming this guy is Ram Man and not the Juggernaut.

Did you know Sony just hired writer Christopher Yost, who penned a Thor movie or two to do some work on a Masters of the Universe script?

Do you think a Masters of the Universe movie is even remotely a good idea?  Because I sure don’t.

Tom Recommends: The Cornetto Trilogy

Among the many interesting “what if’s” that we can ask in regards to the recent Ant-Man, there is the question of how the movie would have turned out had the original director, Edgar Wright, finished the movie he’d worked on for so long.  Wright still got a story and script credit for the work, and had parted ways due to some sort of creative differences with Marvel Films.  Wright had been linked to the project for ages, well before The Avengers hit the big screen, such that many hoped or assumed Wright’s longtime friend and collaborator Simon Pegg might have been cast as Hank Pym.

Why would anyone assume that?  Well, you’d need to see the Cornetto Trilogy to get that.

Jimmy, How Come Each Year You’ve Seen More Razzie Than Oscar Winners?

I like dinosaurs, robots and stuff blowing up and I still hated this movie.

The easy answer is, when I’m in line at the movie rental store, I’m much more likely to pick up something geeky or a stupid comedy than some heart wrenching drama.  One of those three usually gets accolades.  The other 4/5ths (#jennymath) usually do not.  And to celebrate the worst of movies that Jimmy likely saw, they invented the Razzies.  Given out 24 hours before Neil Patrick Harris shocked the world and brought Gabbing Geek to its knees by mentioning Clue in the opening musical number, here are your 2015 Razzie winners…
