This episode did a few things. It may have helped to inspire the creation of Futurama, it suggested Bart could be great if he were consistently disciplined, and that Homer does have an area in which he is very knowledgable.
It takes a special breed of show to be both cruel and kind at the same time. The Simpsons manages to do that. Family Guy does not.

This week, they’re covering the Batman the Animated Series episodes “The Man Who Killed Batman,” “Mudslide,” and “Paging the Crime Doctor”.
Season two has started in the rewatch. See an uptick in the animation if not necessarily an uptick in the quality of the stories.
Not that they’re bad. Just that they will get much, much better.
Well, looks like I’m still doing this. Granted, this is only the second episode, but as I said, I do not expect to finish this run-through.
