I’ve been a huge fan of Mystery Science Theater 3000 for years. The concept was simple: some mad scientists, in an attempt at world domination, subject some poor guy and a pair of wisecracking robots to the worst movies the scientists can find in an attempt to find the one that will break their spirits. The concept doesn’t matter, really. It was basically an excuse to make jokes while watching bad movies.
Last week, I wrote up about the “Planet Hulk” storyline. In that write-up, I mentioned how the Hulk has on occasion been a character that creators have been allowed a certain amount of experimental leeway with. One such writer is a personal favorite of mine, and one of the better Secret Wars spin-offs was a retake of his earlier work.
The writer is Peter David. The work was the two-part Future Imperfect mini-series.
This is probably one of my favorite videos on YouTube. Someone took tons of clips from tons of movies and TV shows and made a rather good techno-kinda tune out of it. I’ve seen lots of stuff, but even I can’t name all of them here. I tend to skip to this whenever I want a quick smile at someone else’s cleverness.
