Gabbing Geek 59: Blabbing Geek

Gabbing Geek 59: Blabbing Geek
Gabbing Geek 59: Blabbing Geek

Not an April Fools Joke, this is seriously a brand new episode of Gabbing Geek!  And not only is it audio but video as well!  Jump after the break to see the full video of the session or you can download the audio from your favorite podcast source.

In this episode we talk about the things we’ve been geeking out on for the past few months and then play a cruel, cruel game of Spoiler Trivia.  Ryan has to answer trivia questions and for every one he misses the questioner gets to reveal a spoiler about Batman v. Superman (because Ryan is so lame he still hasn’t seen it).  Find out what happens after the break!

New For Netflix In April

netflix-logo

It’s been quite a while since I have written.. I was MIA along with Watson.  I’m not the reason for no podcast though.  You will have to find Watson and ask him about that.

Wow, April is going to be a great Geek month on Netflix. I KNOW  you already watched all of season 2 of Daredevil!    How did you like it?  Did you catch the new Pee-Wee Herman movie?  I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t as good as the original movie.

April bring us the Stanley Kubric classic 2001: A space Odyssey.  We also get Star Trek: Insurrection and the cult hit,  Starship Troopers. We also have the epic movie, The Right Stuff.   April also brings a ton of non Geek hits such as Erin Brockovich, A Clockwork Orange, and the always on tv, The Shawshank Redemption as well as the all time classic, always quoted: A Princess Bride.

If your into cooking shows, Netflix has you covered with like 15 different shows covering all the big name celebrity chefs for your enjoyment.

You can see the complete list of what’s new, and their release dates here.

As soon as I catch up on my Netflix watching, I’ll try to be better about keeping you folks in the loop.  Sorry!

Geek Review: Daredevil Season Two (With SPOILERS)

daredevilseason2teaser-170508

Daredevil returned to Netflix with new episodes last Friday.  I may be the only writer here so far to finish the new episodes.  Color me surprised.  I just must have had a lot of free time this weekend.

Now I feel sad.

Anyway, review and SPOILERS after the cut.

Let The Hype Train Begin For The Next Marvel Netflix Series: Luke Cage

luke_cage_logo

So apparently at the end of the last episode of season two of Daredevil, there is a very short teaser for the upcoming Luke Cage series.  I’ve only watched episode one of season two so far, so I have no idea how accurate that statement is.  And yes, my geek cred should be dropped a notch.

If you are interested in the teaser, you can find it after the cut.  And look for Luke Cage to premiere on Netflix on September 30th.

The Punisher Problem

punisher

The second season of Daredevil dropped today.  I’m not one for binge watching, personally, so I have no idea how long it will take me to watch the show, but as of this typing I’ve watched the first episode and liked what I saw.

But the promised appearance of the Punisher had me reflecting that, no matter how popular a character he is, he is a weird anomaly in the Marvel pantheon of a character with little discernible personality and few memorable appearances.

Geek Rewatch: The Monster Squad

monster

I hate nostalgia.  I really do.  Glorifying stuff from the past simply because it was a beloved thing of the past?  Not for me.  I’d much rather judge something based off its actual quality, not some warm feeling I had when I was ten.  Besides, revisiting a lot of those older things shows many of them weren’t that good to begin with.

So, with that in mind, I decided to check out The Monster Squad just before it left Netflix.  I’d seen it once from start to finish as a kid, remembered more or less liking it, and was wondering how good it actually was.  Anyway, thoughts after the cut.
