Yes, we’re already three weeks into 2016 but I finally managed to put together my movie rankings for 2015. Because life. I only managed to see 51 films this year, a paltry sum compared to Watson when he isn’t even trying. And eight of those were on a plane to or from China, making the theater total even lower. Definitely a busy year, but overall a great one for movies. Head after the jump to see how I ranked all 51!
While everyone else drafts Fantasy Football teams, the Gabbing Geek podcast is doing something a bit geekier. We’ve got robots and Chinese movie thieves and fantasy box office and trivia! What more could you ask for? How about Watson’s voice going up two octaves? Oh, it’s in there! Give the episode a listen right the heck now or jump after the break to read more.
After such big hit opening weekends with Taken and American Sniper, we finally get a reminder of what January box office reports are SUPPOSED to look like. American Sniper continued to dominate the box office; pairing Oscar buzz and a weird Chik Fil A effect to stay at the top spot. Most of the new releases that it faced off with were not as well-received.
Yikes! I was gabbing with Ryan this week about box office projections (yes…this is what we talk about in real life) and we both scoffed at the lofty box office projections of American Sniper. I thought maybe….maybe, the film could hit the upside of matching Sole Survivor’s $120M. I honestly thought it would finish its run with $80-90M unless it won Best Picture. Ryan even took the Under on that call. Well, I was right about the $90M number….if I predicted that for OPENING WEEKEND!
