Our latest episode of the Gabbing Geek podcast has MCU movie news, Ready Player One movie news, the Fangirl Geek Book Club, and a riveting discussion on what makes geek content in the first place. And Watson introduces what might be the world’s worst convention ever. You can give the episode a listen right now or jump after the break to read more!
Jenny picked Rainbow Rowell’s novel Fangirl as the latest Gabbing Geek book club for the podcast. I finished it up and have a few thoughts.
To begin, this isn’t really a “geek” book. It’s a coming-of-age novel about a girl that might be a geek. I don’t really think she is, actually. For more thoughts, and potential SPOILERS, see after the cut.
For those of you that are currently reading Fan Girl with our Gabbing Geek Book Club, then you’ll totally appreciate this update. The author of Fan Girl is releasing her next book: Carry On in October. This book is inspired by the Fan Fiction that is mentioned (quite a few times) in the book Fan Girl. And as a fan of Fan Girl, I cannot wait to read Carry On – It’s like Harry Potter meets Buffy. But better. Way better. Check out the synopsis after the break:
