Jimmy Attempts To Read All Of Secret Wars XXVIII: Runaways Edition

runaways_1

There’s been a lot of talk around these parts by Tom and especially Ryan that I’ve underrated Runaways in our Secret Wars Power Rankings. Like here, here, here and here.

I thought Runaways was ok, with one of the few good endings in these (and I use the term loosely) “tie-ins”.  But I’ve just never dug on teen angst teams.  So no, I’ve never read any previous incarnations of Runaways either.

At the end of the day I can only mark it down to personal preference.  And much like I’m sure Terminator 2: Judegement Day is not Ryan and Tom’s favorite movie, or Led Zeppelin Ryan and Tom’s favorite band, to each their own.

After the cut I’ll take a look at Runaways #1, Runaways #2, Runaways #3 and Runaways #4 with an eye to telling you what happened, and not necessarily if you should spend your $15.96 + tax on it.

Happy Birthday, Gabbing Geek!

IMG_9823
One year ago today, the very first episode of the Gabbing Geek podcast was released to an excited public. The audio was terrible, the running time was 1.5 hours, we operated strictly off a FB page, and, jarringly, the other Geeks called Watson by his first name.

One year later, Ryan has mastered audio and production, we run a tight one hour show (we actually produced a few 2 hour shows before coming to this realization), the Gabbing Geek website has passed the podcast as a means to inform and entertain our audience, and now the Geeks either use Watson or Dbag.

Join us now as the hosts and writers of Gabbing Geek reflect on their favorite and not so favorite moments from this special first year!

ICYMI: Fallen Is Awesome

FallenCover

And I’m not just saying that because Ryan is my boss and he thanked me in his acknowledgements in the issue.  Fallen is an excellent way to spend some time this holiday weekend and it costs just 299 pennies.  You can’t get much for pennies these days, but you can get Fallen!

Kidding aside, if you like Batman or the Punisher, give Fallen a try.  It has an excellent script by Ryan that will have you thinking up to and especially after the final panel.  It also features fantastic art by Jose Holder.

What are you waiting for? Buy Fallen today!

Heroes Reborn – We Knew You Couldn’t Stay Dead For Long!

Unless you are Ryan Garcia who was out galavanting around watching Broadway shows of some sort while the Superbowl was on, then you probably saw the quick trailer for the new Heroes Reborn series coming to NBC.

First off – who watches Broadway instead of the Superbowl? HA – I’m kidding. Secondly – what? Heroes is back!? You can count me #1 Cheerleader!
