Marvel’s Birthday Gift To Me: Spider-Man In New Civil War Trailer!

Expect to see this picture a lot. Spider-Man!

I’m too excited to even look too closely at the suit yet.  Classic Spidey, not sure what I think about the flairs.  I like that his eye slots are animated…which make no sense “real life” wise, but is typical Spidey.

Oh, yeah, the new trailer itself is awesome and you can check it out after the cut.

Spider-Man!

Jimmy Attempts To Read All Of Secret Wars 54 (House Of M Edition)

house_of_m_1_w_text

Extremely late, but I am contractually obligated to bring you the penultimate post in my Secret Wars read through.  In this installment we’ll turn the clocks back to 2005 and visit a domain based on the mega House of M event.

Remember the tie-in series to the original House of M where Peter Parker was a famous actor and businessman, believed by the world to be a mutant and happily married to Gwen Stacy?  Yeah, go read that instead.  But if you insist, after the break I’ll look at House of M: Battleworld Edition.

Super Bowl 50 – Captain America: Civil War

The Cap 3 commercial after the break is short but gives us a clear drawing of lines between the Avengers in the upcoming Civil War.  Still no sign of a Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man.

First Black Panther Footage In The First Captain America: Civil War Trailer

black_panther

In a bit of a surprise last night, the Captain America: Civil War trailer debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live.  I think the smart money was on it debuting with the release of something called The Force Awakens: Corporate Synergy, but Disney/Marvel decided to let Kimmel get the glory.  (And probably feared a leak in the near future regardless.)

It’s an interesting trailer with definitely a dark, brooding feel to it.  We get our first look at Black Panther, but no Spider-Man as of yet.  I’m sure they will keep him under wraps for as long as they possibly can.  I still have a gut feeling that his role in the movie is not going to be all that big.

View the trailer after the cut and let us know what you think.  And I’m sure I don’t need to remind you, but catch Civil War in theaters on May 5th, 2016.

Robot Chicken Asks The Question We All Wonder About With Shared Universes

robot_chicken_avengers
“So I says, ‘Coulson, I’m sure your group of non-powered agents can handle it. We’re pretty busy over here fighting Galactus!’ Haha! And he fell for it! Everyone knows Galactus is over in the Fox Cinematic Universe.”

One of the biggest problems with shared universes in any medium, especially when it comes to super heroes, is where is everybody when you need them?  How come Iron Man or Thor never showed up to help Cap in Captain America: Winter Soldier?  Whenever the Joker shows up to taunt Batman, why can’t he call Superman to take care of him in seconds?  It’s one of those things that Tom Kelly would tell us all to not think about too much.

After the cut, Robot Chicken tackles this subject with an eye to skewing Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D..

WOWZERS! You’ve got to check out makeup artist Natasha Morley (@chibinat) and how she can transform herself into some of our favorite heroes, villains, and monsters! If I had half of these skills I don’t think I would take so long to get ready in the morning – I hate how I always poke my eye out with mascara. AmIRight ladies? I don’t know how she has the patience to sit there and do this to herself, but we’re sure glad she does, because it’s absolutely stunning. Click after the break to see some of our favorite transformations like GROOT, ULTRON, and so much more.

Not Just A Pixar Character! The Original Elasti-Girl

"I'll just put this down somewhere."
“I’ll just put this down somewhere.”

Gabbing Geek Jenny has, in the past, stated her belief in Madam Xanadu as an iconic character.  I tried one before to to suggest that maybe Phantom Lady had a better claim to that title under her criteria (does not have a male version, has not cameoed in a movie or TV show, has an origin story older than the mid-90s, and has been read by Jenny).  Jenny said Phantom Lady’s costume sucked (which, to be fair, it does), but maybe for my weekly “This one died!” column we can try a different character with a better claim than Madam Xanadu.

Let’s talk about Elasti-Girl.  And I do not mean the one in The Incredibles.  Pixar actually asked DC for permission to use the name, and it was granted so long as the name was never used in the marketing.  If you get that action figure from The Incredibles line, her name will be listed as “Mrs. Incredible”.

But let’s talk the original.
