There is a serious injustice happening right now in the Toy industry. I’m not talking about how we’ve strayed from making toys indestructible (have you ever tried to break a Lincoln Log?), or how craftsmanship is a thing of the past. Nor am I talking about how most toys now-a-days have some kind of mechanical battery operated mechanism which leaves nothing left for imagination. No – the injustice I speak of is something that’s always been there, yet I’m so damn fed up with it – and that’s gederfication and blatant sexism in the toy industry.
With the new Avengers: Age of Ultron movie hitting the ground running, we thought it would be appropriate to show off one of the newest characters: Scarlet Witch. Check out Florencia Sofen from Clint and Jillian Cosplay & Photography. See more after the break:
Yup. Ant-Man is gonna be in Civil War. No word on whether he is a secessionist or a states rights advocate, but what does this all mean for the MCU? Click on!
Kurt Busiek and George Perez had a fairly epic run on The Avengers starting in the late 90s. They had the team take on Ultron and Kang. They had a mix of old and new characters. They made Carol Danvers interesting (yes, Jenny, I said it, and she’s been interesting ever since). There was beautiful artwork, stories that showed great understanding for everyone on the team, and a silent issue where Washington D.C. got destroyed, but the Avengers managed to get George W. Bush out, and only George W. Bush out, before everything went boom. I did not make that up.
They also put a new character named Triathlon on the team, and he was fairly lame. I only recently learned why.
Need to talk about Age of Ultron? We’re here for you. Come listen to Gabbing Geek Episode 36: Everything Is Not Awesome. We cover a Superman documentary, Star Wars movie news, a June movie game, a serious complaint about Avengers toys, and then cover all things Age of Ultron. Give us a listen right now or jump past the break for more info.
I saw Age of Ultron last night and I want to share some high level thoughts without revealing Spoilers (we have other articles that do that, so we are covering all the bases at Gabbing Geek). Now, my title says Spoiler Free, and I mean that, but since some people are VERY antsy about the definition of the word Spoiler (SEE: Garcia, Ryan), before you click See More, here’s what I mean by spoiler free: I will not ruin any major plotpoints or fun moments from the film. I will discuss broadly how I felt about certain characters and the overall action/story without getting too specific. Interested? Click on…
WARNING: This post contains Avengers Age of Ultron spoilers. Go see the movie first, then come back and read the rest after the break.
This week on the podcast, Jenny and the guys were discussing nothing but the Avengers. They had spelling contests, some weird thing that involved guessing obscure Avengers heroes, and for some reason Madame Xanadu, and some running bit about Nick Fury being much more awesome that he’s been depicted to be up to this point.
Yeah, I think I’m with Jenny on that one. Nick isn’t really an Avenger.
Are you looking to fill some time while you wait to see Avengers Age of Ultron? Do you need to be distracted before awesomesauce drips down the silver screen? CAN YOU EVEN STAND THAT AGE OF ULTRON IS FINALLY HERE?! Yeah, same here. So give a listen to Gabbing Geek episode 35: Ultimate Ultron or find out more after the break.
