The Rise Of Cinematic Universes

I’m sure it is only a matter of time…

Recently, it was announced that a new Scooby Doo movie would launch a Hanna-Barbera cinematic universe.  We also know that the Men in Black/21 Jump Street movie is supposed to actually happen.

Basically, that means that anything can be a cinematic universe these days.  While sitting around the Gabbing Geek Editorial Office, I came up with a few of my own.  See them after the cut.  Hollywood, feel free to use these for a small piece of the gross.  Not the net.  I won’t be screwed over that way.

Shut up and take my money!

Tom Recommends: The Venture Brothers

Gabbing Geek Tom Recommends v2Cartoon Network a number of years back spun-off a line of late night shows, many only about ten minutes per episode, under the “Adult Swim” umbrella.  A number of their short original programming often looks crudely animated (on purpose), and may require some substances illegal in most states to really enjoy.  One such show that is neither ten minutes long nor requires such stimulation is The Venture Brothers.

The Venture Brothers is often hilarious, and much of it comes across as a distorted Geek pop culture argument on acid.

We here at Gabbing Geek have debated the best cartoon theme songs on our Podcast Ep. 14. Slightly Misplaced Comics Heroes Case Files #2: The Unknown Soldier

"Hey, Unknown Soldier, STOP HELPING THE NAZIS!"
“Hey, Unknown Soldier, STOP HELPING THE NAZIS!”

He was a mystery man, a soldier and assassin who made Axis agents tremble during World War II.  He also had no name.  That was deliberate.

He was…the Unknown Soldier!
