Ryan’s 2015 Movie Rankings

number one (image can be used for printing or web)

Yes, we’re already three weeks into 2016 but I finally managed to put together my movie rankings for 2015.  Because life.  I only managed to see 51 films this year, a paltry sum compared to Watson when he isn’t even trying. And eight of those were on a plane to or from China, making the theater total even lower.  Definitely a busy year, but overall a great one for movies.  Head after the jump to see how I ranked all 51!

Furious 8 Lands Director Straight Outta Award Season

StraightOuttaSomewhereF Gary Gray, already on the short list for numerous awards this year after helming Straight Outta Compton, has just signed on to direct Furious 8.  The movie is still set to be released on April 17, 2017.  Gray had been considered a frontrunner to direct Marvel’s Black Panther, but since that’s now been set for a 2018 release that may be too close to Furious 8 for that to be true.  T’Challa’s loss is my favorite car-based-over-the-top-heist franchise’s gain!

Straight Outta Gotham

I don’t think this would have made $60 million at the box office this past weekend, but Jenny voiced Bane along with his partners in crime Joker, Two-Face and The Riddler have a rap message for Batman and Robin after the break.

(NSFW language.  The language is not sufficient for work.)

Is Straight Outta Compton Appropriate For Children? No, You Idiot. But, Here’s a Spoiler Free Review…

straight-outta-compton-MOVIE

Well, this review is as spoiler free as I need to be given that all this really happened.  While I am not the target audience (I grew up in an upper middle class suburb where LL Cool J was as hardcore as it got), I had been looking forward to this movie since it was announced.  I had high expectations that this moment in music history could produce a strong biopic.  Did they deliver?
